Not correct. There were multiple charges in the Casey Anthony case. From premeditated murder all the way down to child abuse. The jury only found her guilty of lying, and that she did not abuse Caylee

That was an exception to the normal Federal prcedures... It amazed even me at the time... McVeigh was rather tight-lipped about his motivations and any un-caught helpers he might have had. But over 20 years of appeals, lots of things might have changed, that might have made him less tight-lipped.
