I agree with you about this being a shot across the bow.
We have way too many old timers in office that have probably been compromised. Until we get new leadership we will probably get no where.

The daughter's problem might be drugs. What else would they have in common? Though on his part, he probably sees $ signs, and she has to really hate her parents.
A number of posters here are blaming the the Boehners for the actions of an adult child. At this point (I might change my mind later) i find this unfair. I know a wonderful family where one of the children became involved with drugs and gangs. Unlike some parents, they never declared how proud they were of that child.
Soon as I stopped with my eyerolls, sighs and “you deserve better than this” with my daughter and detached(not from wisdom but frustration),,,she came to her senses and got rid of him.
Moral of the story: Parents DO know best alot of the time but we have to learn to put duct tape over our mouths and leave it there.
