Custer entered an Indian encampment, dropped his gun belt, and talked to them, encouraging them to remain peaceful, to not resort to war.

Forrest was also a slave trader before the war, just as R.E. Lee was a slave rapist.

Nope. The pretended confederate government was illegitimate, immoral, and corrupt.

He was no head of state, but did adhere to the enemies of the US, and made war against the US.

i.e. Traitor

You belong at DU . Your arrogant uninformed reply is laughable. Show your unimpeachable knowledge, school us uninformed idiots. Your information must be overwhelming. So what is it? What are your sources?

OK, you keep restating your position without substantiation. I KNOW what you think about it, I’ve refuted it with facts and logic.

We’re done here.

If this was an attempt to disprove my accusation that your side of the argument cannot maintain their position with the use of consistent, non-contradictive method, you have only succeeded in proving my case. Custer's treatment of Natives goes far beyond anything done to Blacks in whole history of the South, Forrest included. If you're arguing that any little overture erases that history, all a Forrest apologist would have to do is cite some conciliatory gesture to purge his reputation of his supposed sins as well. Rescuing Forrest is even easier given the comparative severity of their respective actions - that is, unless you can show me where Forrest wiped out whole villages of Blacks, killing even the women and children.

I wait with baited breath.

Except they didn’t. The reasons for the US revolution was eloquenty explained in the Declaration of Independence. Only after Britain made war on the US was the declaration of independence written, voted, and sent to England.

The union of the various people of the colonies became the perpetual union of the Articles of Confederation. That union became more perfect with the Constitution and its various amendments.

That union of the US people was not and could not be ended by the ‘at pleasure’ vote of a single state.

URDTD. (you are dumber than dirt) and don’t throw the word ignorant around unless you even know what it means. Obviously, you don’t. Your ignorance is absolutely breathtaking in its scope. You verge on delusional.
