You’re lucky you didn’t drive off. The fuel in the fuel lines would have gotten you about a half mile down the road before all heck broke loose and it wouldn’t have been as simple as draining the tank. Maybe not a disaster, but definitely a boat payment.

Its much the same problem as using petroleum based solvents to clean brake parts. Its not a corrosion issue.
It is my understanding that to protect the POTUS on foreign trips many of the supplies are transported from the US presumably including the fuel for the limo. The current limo, the Beast, is diesel powered. I can’t imagine the Secret Service screwing up in fueling the limo with local fuel or not knowing what fuel to use. Perhaps the Secret Service was too preoccupied checking out the local brothels.

Yes, it was odd that it immediately was affected. I suppose with the old Saab fuel injection there is not a lot of fuel in the system between the tank and the detination chamber.
[Beast pulls up to gas station. Secret Service agent gets out to pump diesel. "The Won" spies some Palestinians lingering nearby, gets out of the limo to show off.]
The Won: "Here, here! Step aside. I'll pump the gas." [reaches for wrong pump]
SS Agent #1: "But sir..."
The Won: "I said, step aside!" [waves and smiles at Palis. Puts wrong fuel in limo]
[SS Agent #1 gives helpless look to SS Agent #2]
SS Agent #2: [Smiles, whispers to SS Agent #1] "Let him do it. This'll be priceless."
The Won: [finishes up, flashes thumbs up to Palis, gets back in limo] "Alright! Let's go!"

I saw the results of putting car gasoline into a prop plane's engine which needed 100 octane avgas. The premature detonations tore the pistons to hell. The wife of the pilot brought in one of the pistons for a little show and tell at work. I would expect gasoline in a diesel engine would be similar if you could get the engine started.
Israel taking out the Beast with gasoline sounds like bacteria taking out the Martians in War Of The Worlds.

Yes, a little diesel residue won’t hurt a gasoline engine at all.
In fact I’ve always been told a little shot of diesel is just a good engine lubricant. (I have a couple big outdoor fuel tanks, now filled with gasoline, but one was a diesel tank for 30 years).
You’d think they might have tried your method over in Israel rather than shipping a different car, for pete’s sake.
