“I may be wrong but the piece the security guard in the tactical vest was carrying was likely not an AR-15. It looked more like an H&K MP5.”
I was thinking much the same thing, but the clarity of the picture makes it a tad difficult to be sure. But I did NOT think the guard was using an AR-15.

Considering he was shot before he could bring his carbine into play he did all right.

But I did NOT think the guard was using an AR-15.More than likely...now that the media have gotten some schoolin' since Sandy Hook...they see a firearm that is not a pistol and is black and scary...so they call it an AR-15.
They seem to have graduated from the "Assault rifle" meme to a place where they want to seem knowledgeable.
Failz.

The female holdup partner needs to practice her purse draw. She fumbled it badly.
What’s with the giant “Concealed Weapons Permit” badge on the side of the SUV?
The guy with the rifle was darn quick to gear up. He comes out of the back room chasing the bad guy with a tactical vest on. Or does he wear it all the time? Maybe a good idea in that neighborhood.

Maybe a good idea in that neighborhood. It sometimes pays to watch the video with the sound on. Then you would know he was hired security, not the taxpreparer.

"The place was dealing drugs and the robbery was intent on getting the drugs and the money."Now the story is making sense. When I first heard the story, my question was: "Why does an income tax preparation service need an armed guard? There is no cash involved, since the money goes to the IRS, not the preparer." Your analysis makes sense of the story.

Just dang. Just goes to show there is only one sure way to stop a bad guy with a gun.

“The AR is actually a very poor choice in this situation. It's great for outdoor use, at range, against large numbers of targets. Indoors against just 1-2 targets, it's clunky, unwieldy, and far too over-powered (shots will go through perps and walls, where the shooter can't see, in violation of the Four Rules). A nice .45 1911 would have a better option, or possibly a Mossberg 500 (shotgun), given his “spray-n-pray” strategy.”
Agree completely. If he was shooting .223, the round he shot through the wall while likely ended up across the street somewhere. Mossberg 935 with #4 shot would have been much safer and more effective IMHO.

Thanks Red: good video : The security guy was textbook- he quickly returned fire, his second shot was thru the wall where the purp just had been and his pursuit was to run to cover at the door, then he peeked out low, to see if they were waiting to ambush him. The owner however having been in the middle of several shots fired, stands up and walks up to the open door as if he's getting some fresh air.... Hoo Boy !
