True. However,the Church did not take the step that the boy scouts are doing here and devolving central authority to the troops. That’s the crucial difference. The Church took the opposite route in cleaning out the worst of it and replacing the local leadership. The Church did not change canon law to accommodate the perverts.
The Boy scouts have made a drastic mistake by not showing leadership on the national level. This is bad, very bad.

It was very common to have nude swimming classes for boys up until the 1970s. I graduated in 1976, and we had nude swimming classes from the 7th grade on.

The SBC has not traditionally been a big player in BSA because it has long favored its own male youth programs like the Royal Ambassadors. Now would be an excellent time to support the conservative cause in BSA.
The top 3 church denominations (LDS, UMC and RCC) which charter scouting units far outweigh all the apostate denominations which have embraced homosexuality. Granted, the UMC is wobbly right now. We have numbers on our side! We can overthrow this chief scout executive and national executive board. Yes, national will lose much corporate support and program support materials will tighten up, but we can work through that. In the process, many councils will have to close their doors ("blue" areas). Better to cut the cancer out than let it kill the patient.
1. Call/e-mail your local councils (better yet, contact the council president who chairs the council executive board) and tell them you want your council executive board to fight against this membership change. Include that you will cancel your Friends of Scouting financial contributions if they do not act against this change. That will get his attention. Remember the council professionals (especially the council scout executive) will be conflicted because they will want to hold onto their jobs.
2. Wait till the membership change becomes official. Then protect your sons. Transfer them out of any unit which is chartered to 1 of the following apostate denominations.
a. TEC = The Episcopal Church
b. ELCA = Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
c. PCUSA = Presbyterian Church in the USA
d. UCC = United Church of Christ
e. DoC = Disciples of Christ/ The Christian Church
f. Moravian Church
g. U/U = Universalist-Unitarian
h. Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
i. Alliance of Baptists
j. UMC = United Methodist Church. They are a special case. They are approaching a schism over the issue of homosexuality. Many Godly UMC parishes are still out there, but you need to check closely. If you see/hear signs of the church pushing "social justice", that is code that they are accepting of homosexuality. Another sign to watch out for is if the church has a female preacher/minister/priest/pastor/rector. There is a high degree of correlation between female preachers and acceptance of homosexuality. Brush the dust off your feet and leave just like Lot did without looking over your shoulder.
As others have commented, we have entered a time when it is necessary to separate the sheep from the goats. In Ecclesiastes we are told that for everything there is a season, even war. We are at war with the chief scout executive, the national executive board and the apostate denomnations. It is either them or us.
My father (Baptist preacher) pulled the plug on association with Boy Scouts decades ago — in the ‘60s. I don’t even recall why, but it was something he saw or heard in a Scout meeting. Dad’s gone, so I can’t ask him.
What the BSA intials will now stand for are the
Brown-shirted SA!
My mother’s preacher had a sermon on this. He said the church related troops would stay as they are, and won’t have anything to do with this ruling by the BSA.

And good for the Baptists. Abandoning your principles for a few pats on the back is the act of a coward. Or - to be fair, it's act of a citizen so beaten down by our current culture that he thinks there is not alternative.
