Yes. But not so with the so-called *Lightning Link* two-piece sear trip, which converts a semiauto AR-15 to Full-auto only, without any change to M16/M16A1 parts.
Interesting. I am M-16 armorer qualified, but I admit to being unfamiliar with the device of which you speak. Can you provide details and/or links please?
Speaking of firearms and machine guns, let’s hear one massive cheer for that greatest of gun inventors and designers, John Moses Browning, the Mormon from Ogden. I was stunned to learn that he designed (among many, many others), the Colt 1911, Colt Woodsman .22, Browning Superposed, Winchester 1892 lever action, Remington 870, Ithaca Model 37, .30 & .50 machine guns, Browning .303, etc.

They're adaptations for semiauto AR15s, using parts from the M16A1 in the case of the auto-sear, but not the lightning link. Though mostly encountered in and around law enforcement circles, I've run across them in military use in Mexico and El Salvador.
