There is no historical doubt that the basis for the 2nd Amendment was the inclusion of the same right in Britain’s 1689 Bill of Right - to defend against potential tyranny.

Note to: Thom Hartmann’s “The Big Picture”. During the civil rights marches and struggles of the 1950s and 1960s, more than a few blacks exercised their 2nd Amendment rights to buy guns and ammo to protect their own lives and those of their families.
