Most states limit magazine capacity while hunting... For instance, my Benelli Super-90 defender has an extended magazine tube to hold 7 rounds, but if I wanted to take the gun hunting, I'd have to install the (removable) 3 shot "plug," which limits the shotgun to 2+1 rounds. I also have a 5 round M-14 magazine which has a magazine block in it.
In most states, if you get busted by DNR with excessive capacity magazines while hunting, you'll go to jail, lose whatever game you've taken, and lose your gun.
But that's strictly while actually hunting in the field.
