That analogy would be more aptly used to demonstrate Republicans don’t stand for what they claim, or anything else, than that Powell isn’t a Republican.
” I’ll give you one better. My dad met Colin Powell wayyy back in 1969, when they were both stationed in Vietnam. Apparently they interacted for about 3 days together on some base, and my dad tells me that nobody thought much of it at the time since Powell was an unknown army major back then. I asked him what he thought of Powell, and he told me “Not Much.” I get the impression it wasn’t a positive experience.”
That is interesting. And not surprising considering what we have all seen from Powell.
My dad did a tour in Vietnam in ‘62-’63 with MAC-V. He had occasion to work with Lt Col George S Patton IV, son of the WWII general. Dad said Patton IV was one of the finest officers he served with in his Army career. Patton didn’t try to trade on his famous name, he just worked hard at his job and treated people well.
