From the article: "Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Heh.

Interesting, I was having similar thoughts, though not nearly as elaborate. At first glance, my only quibble is that there should be angled bastions instead of round towers for better visibility.

I don’t know of any city that has ever withstood a prolonged siege, but I can’t stress enough the importance of uninterruptable energy, water, and food supplies.

Another lesson to take from castle design is the concept of bottlenecks and layered defenses. In the event that the outer perimeter is breached (say by marauding Marxists), progress to the inner perimeter is only via bottlenecks that are subject to attack from all directions.

Assembling in one place is not a good idea, even if that place is hardened.

Bunker buster.

It may be wiser to spread out and become mobile.

If the government had to find a deal with a large number of difficult to find people over a large area, the government would soon exhaust its already dwindling funds, especially if those people discontinued funding their persecutors.

I like it.
I don’t see this working.
Still under federal laws for housing among others.

It’s really sad how many people in this country think they’re still living in a free republic when the Communist/Marxists have won the war without a shot being fired.

If a private citizen can no longer rent his property or provide business services or employ workers according to his personal discretion then what makes anyone think they can cordone off a nice little plot for themselves and live according to their beliefs. Have they been in LaLa land for the past fifty years?

The LGBT, Communist/Marxist, Liberal Progressive cesspool will swallow this project whole in short order. The only way back to a free republic will require the same measures as it did the first time. Quite frankly, I don’t see what it takes in our younger generations. The Commie SOBs handily educated that spirit out of them via public education.

At least they’re doing something. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Just find the most decent small town off the beaten parh out in the midwest that is depopulating, with a servicable utility system including a municipal reservoir and powerplant, and buy the whole thing.

Harden the electricals, which really isn’t as difficult or as expensive as it’s made out to be. Recruit “members” possessing needed skillsets and training to make the town functional. Recruit a member who can locate a fairly large fuel storage facility there. Same with a food and grocery wholesale warehouse. Upgrade the communications systems.

Deputize and arm every adult member. Identify and quietly track visitors as well as through traffic. Then, go about your lives and hope it’s never necessary to go Jericho on the rest of the world, even though you’re positioned to do so if needed.

Stop feeding the beast. Make your own citadel. If millions of like minded individuals would agree to withold their tax payments or to eke them out over a long period; the Obamanation would no longer be able to provide its minions with free livelihood. They would be in deep trouble until they agreed to negotiate with the makers instead of bribing the takers.

This is rather stupid. The key to success is not telling everyone including the enemy what you are up to....

This is a very attractive idea! ... but just like a red Corvette seems to act like a red flag to some cops, just asking for a ticket ... having a community like this, with an open declaration of following read principles of independence, will act as a red flag to the feds, just asking for the feds to stomp all over them as soon as they commit some minor infraction. Better to keep a low profile. If this community gets off the ground, sooner or later it will have the “fun” of being a test case of some sort.

Fixed fortifications are big targets. Defensibility lies in mobility or invisibility, such as underground centers.

Being nomadic independent of govt controlled highways is a way to go. Conservative communities at sea or travelling the mountain chain from Alaska to Mexico with pack animals and hi tech collapsible shelters. That is, if you want the maximum independence from society.

I remember a hippie type commune in the PNW that lives in a wandering fashion using tipi technology. Some hold down jobs, others try to live off the land or make a few $ goldpanning or growing forbidden herbs. They pack up and move the whole shebang several times a year to another forest area marginally accessible by logging roads.

I went the sailboat route, myself.

Those ignorant idiots that do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. There is no fortress that cannot and has not been defeated. Mobile targets are much more difficult to hit. Having communications between fighters and the agility to move and strike an enemy far outweigh any initial, and only an initial, defense a wall provides.
