I think he/she meant the drug taking, permissive, draft card burning morons of that generation, most of whom got all the attention in the media.

It only takes ONE GENERATION to take their eye off the ball. I hate to say it, but it was “The Greatest Generation”, the ones that dealt with the Depression and then the War. They struggled like crazy, then were scared to death at the thought of losing the War, which almost happened - so they decided (en-masse) that their kids would be PAMPERED. Well they were - and they are the Baby Boomers, and their kids (mostly) are a bunch of TOTAL LOSERS and the entire future of this country is at risk because of this.

"boomers"

As much as I love to listen to Rush Limbaugh, he's one of the biggest if not the biggest dissembler of the lie about hippie baby boomers. Rush paints a picture of just himself and a few others who weren't dope-smoking, hippie commune-dwellers who burned down the local college. The truth is about maybe one to three percent of boomers could have been called hippies. The rest either went to school or went into the military, got out or got home, and raised families. Few of them lived the spoiled lifestyle Rush depicts of the average Boomer.

I came from a family of seven kids and one wage-earner, my father. He didn't make a lot of money. Nobody in my family was spoiled. None of my friends were spoiled. Why Rush tells those lies I'll never know. But Gen Xers eagerly lap it up as the truth. One of my biggest desires is to put the boomer-bashers (most of whom have received far more material objects and attention from their parents than the average Boomer) in a time machine and see how they'd like living without their own car, tv set in their room, no cell phone, no computer, no video games, or mommy and daddy doting on their sorry little rearends.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for blasting Rush about this. I hold him responsible for many of the attitudes of young rightwingers towards the elder generation. Why does he do this? He NEVER talks about all the young men who died during the Viet Nam War. My brother came very close to being drafted during its latter days and I can remember the horrifying fear that he would be sent off to a rice paddy without any compassion or support from fellow Americans. (He turned out to have a high lottery number.) And then to come to know and work with all the Viet Nam vets when I was old enough to work full time. No one but baby boomers and their parents can understand the dread of those days...

BS on video games and movies, it’s women, women have been convinced that they are victims, so they fight, they have surpassed men, yet they are never satisfied, they have children, a good family, yet they still want more. I can’t tell you how many divorced women with more than one kid I have met, the feminists have convinced them that women should keep striving, thus, they have a void that can never be filled!

The Democrats have declared war on white males, affirmative action has been successful for keeping them from government, they freely discriminate against white men.

Women can assimilate, so white males are left to languish, convinced by the left that they are to blame for society’s ills, it’s wrong, yet the DNC have declared war on white men, it’s true.

We live in a world where what’s light is dark and what’s dark is light, it will only get worse, evreyone who embraces debauchery is victim, it’s their civil right to endulge, we are at war, it’s between good and evil.

There is no reason for schools to be run the same way they were 100 years ago, and what we need is education tailored to the individual student, not a herd of kids of the same age marching lock-step through 12 years in an institution that resembles prison more than anything else.

Have you seen the videos by Ken Robinson?

In this one he says much the same thing you are saying here:

Yes, I have and I love it! It frustrates me no end that people continue to send their kids off to schools that are boring and substandard. Most little kids start off eager to learn and by the time they are in the 4th grade, the system squelches that desire to learn. It’s a shame.

Well, lots of others are postulating their theories as to the cause(s) of our demise, so let me opine.

First of all, by way of qualifications, I am a Bible-believing Christian, have an advanced technical degree (with honors), paid for 80% of my education, have never been without a job, have been married to the same woman for 41+ years, and raised two wonderful, God-fearing chidren, one of which is raising her chidren the same way (the other doesn’t have children, yet).

I see the following major problems in America:

1) Parents don’t teach their children about God and His ways, let alone take them to church. I remember when I was very young, my parents looked for and found a local church and we were there anytime the doors were open - my parents took parenting seriously and walked the talk.

2) Parents don’t discipline their children. When I was growing up, if one of my parents told me to do something, I either did it or suffered immediate consequences (”time out” hadn’t been invented, yet), and my children were raised the same way. Today, whether or not a child does something he/she is asked to do by one of his/her parents is determined by how convincing the parent can be - “because I said so” is no longer an acceptable answer. When our chidren were growing up, we learned a valuable lesson about REAL discipline: if your child is running toward a crowded street and you yell “STOP!”, will they? I believe this lack of discipline contributes to the epidemic of ADD/ADHD - I and our chidren were taught to just sit still.

3) We have forgotten our roots. We are a Christian nation, founded, with God’s personal intervention, by Christians. We, as a nation, don’t know those facts, and certainly don’t celebrate them.

4) Our schools have become social indoctrination centers instead of learning centers. When kids can graduate from high school and not know how to read or write well enough to even apply for a job, there is reason for alarm!

5) Our public school teachers are, for the most part, union members (where everyone should have the same outcome and excellence has no reward) and not professionals (where excellence is rewarded). When this phenomenum began to occur, I said that it would be the start of the downfall of our education system and, unfortunately, I was right. With this entitlement mentality, how can we expect our children to learn concepts like excellence, achievement, self-motivation, and integrity?

6) Living off the government has become an acceptable and accepted lifestyle. Both of my sets of grandparents and both of my parents lived through the depresssion. They would have never accepted food stamps or welfare and just did what they had to to survive and provide for their families. Even growing up, there was a stigma about being on welfare - it was accepted when necessary, but it was always understood that it was a temporary situation, not a lifestyle.

If those six things could be corrected, it would go a long way toward resurrecting our country to its once great position. As it is, even American exceptionalism is frowned upon.

“If you don’t believe me, check out the numbers with your local K-12 and college folks.”

Then why is race an issue with college applications? White male taxpayers are being asked to fund the wealth/opportunity transfer to unassimilated minorities, and they are doing it without a whimper. My sons will check a box and get in (with SAT scores of 200 if need be); they are officially “Hispanic”.

Respecting the father is paramount but they will not ever talk down to their mother or dismiss her less suffer the consequences.

“Respectful of women? Sure. Look out for them? Really? Do you work with women? They look out for themselves just fine; have sons look out for their peers.”

The loss of chivalry in this country is sad. Looking out doesn’t translate to work product, they want equal pay etc... fine, but myself and my sons will open doors, assist with heavy items, be respectful when allowed to be, and if a woman is in distress by another male intercede where/when necessary.

So, you are all about giving up our military to the marxists? If conservatives abandon the military we will be at odds with it domestically when the time comes.

The statement I made is that colleges are desperate to keep the male-female ratio above 40-60. I didn't say anything about racial preference, but I have no doubt that at most colleges blacks and Hispanics (but not Asians) receive preferential consideration for admissions.

Actually it’s ultimately parenting.

I absolutely agree.

I blame Dr. Spock for our ills...

By subversion of morally responsible parenting? Please elaborate. I view Spock as a Commie subversive.

... along with income tax.

By forcing mothers out of the home? Please elaborate. I view progressive income tax as a Commie policy goal.

Total lack of discipline trickles down to schools.

There you be WAY wrong. The Commie union public schools are designed for the PURPOSE of subverting and destroying proper parental moral authority, seducing moral and ethical allegiance to the state as opposed to God and the child's parents, and using the child as an informer against, and justification for the enslavement of the parents.

This is NOT trickle down, it is the "education" that Big Public Education was created to indoctrinate into the entire society through indoctrination of children.

Spock was indeed a commie. But he also simply seemed to think everyone could roll over for their kids and it would make them nice. Thus “Lord of the Flies” takes over and we get more of an anarchy effect.

Taxing income is in truth unconstitutional as it robs people directly of value they created. So many ills can be traced to this I can’t even think of most of them on the fly. 1 is the lack of truly outrageously rich people to fund things that instead now the gov feels it “needs” to fund, such as “arts” (the other NEA) and building projects, etc. If people could get alot richer, they might put their own money into this stuff instead every one of us being mugged.

As for trickling down - sorry, don’t agree. You keep talking in today’s pronouns, in the present tense. Schools, even public, were much better not too long ago. Public schooling has been around a long time now. I can ask my mother who went both public and private. They got discipline and were actually taught things that are important, and weren’t told how wonderful they all are just for being there. That has changed gradually - and to boot, my mother was a teacher soon after she left primary years and up until a decade ago. She could see the changes the times she worked in regular public schools. I believe her.

“So, you are all about giving up our military to the marxists? If conservatives abandon the military we will be at odds with it domestically when the time comes.”

The military is government work; when you are paid by Caesar you do Caesar’s bidding. You also do it with whoever Caesar puts in the next bunk.

The military has always sided with the government that signs its paychecks; have no illusions about that. Their moment for domestic heroism passed a long time ago.

Oh, OK; then they’ll have freshman classes that are balanced (though the males are unqualified ethnic wards of the state) so they can say they’re trying. A year later most of them have dropped out (they realize they are nowhere near qualified - in fact several years behind) so you end up with a skewed 40:60 figure. To really see the impact of the “token males” I’d think GRADUATION RATES are a better indicator. That is probably 20% male 80% female.

Sorry, laughing to much to type quickly.

It's good to know that there are Commies that just COINCIDENTALLY believe in subverting parents nuclear family relationship with their children and they would never do it to promote Communism and the Commie agenda. I forgot about all those honest Commies.

Schools, even public, were much better not too long ago.

Oh, really? I recall being taught in 1957 about the astounding benefits of the "Living Constitution" (the foundation of the left's subversion of America) by a union public school teacher.

A member of a union that was affiliated with Communists and the Commie union movement since it's formation, and Commies have been closely involved with unions since the turn of the Twentieth Century.

Today's pronouns fit perfectly public schooling in 1955, and that was put in place by Commies decades before that.

My mother went to public school from c.1943-1949 in Baltimore. She started teaching in public school c.1960 in Cleveland, then back in Baltimore and so on. With private and spec ed (you can’t get much more PC than that) thrown in along the way. Way back she would never say her schools were very biased or anything like that.

Many, many people embrace commie ideals without thinking they’re communist. As I say, a rose by any other name is still a rose, or a snake a snake. For outcome it doesn’t matter whether they think they are or not, but for intention it does. I’m sure in the old days many teachers (especially after “wonderful” FDR) thought they were just being nice and opening new revelations on old subjects.

In the meantime, I think we agree on the basics.

The first stat that proves that there is something seriously wrong with young men in America today...

Is the exorbitant amount of taxes extracted to maintain the socialist infrastructure we are all being crushed under.
