Same in TN. 223 not a hunting round
If you hit a deer with an AR-15 there wouldnt be anything left.
Either lying or didn’t know diddly about the subject he was speaking of
M193 seems to be unavailable everywhere I have looked. Probably because the world’s greatest gun salesman is squatting in the WH.
“The correct takeaway is to refute the nobody needs an AR-15 because you cannot hunt with it meme with two responses:
1) Tens of thousands of people hunt with AR-15s in .223
2) The Second Amendment isnt about hunting.”
3)It’s not the “Bill of Needs” it is the “Bill of Rights.”
The second amendment is there to help you protect your other rights from the government
If you take anything away from this tragedy, know this: ANYTHING reported during the first 24 hours of a mass casualty event must be treated with extreme caution. Most of it will turn out to be untrue. NEVER trust the press.
In this case, the press reported that the Bushmaster was found in the trunk, not the school. A source was never cited other than "unknown LEO" or other vague reference. Most likely, some reporter overheard a conversation, got it wrong but went on air without verifying and everyone else out there is press la la land piled on without checking. Both the Connecticut State Police and the Medical Examiner on now on record saying that all the wounds were inflicted by a .223 cartridge, not 9mm pistol rounds. The have evidence (bullets, shell casings) to back up their claims. Please quit spreading press nonsense.
I think the point is that this isn’t about banning a particularly destructive weapon, but a red herring to enact incremental gun control.
I think just as much or more damage would be done with a shotgun, a hacksaw, some boxes of 12 gauge 00 buckshot and a little practice in quick reloading. Aiming would be unnecessary.
It is easy to blame the inanimate object than to take responsibility. Our schools, families, culture, and spirituality and morality has changed drastically in the last couple decades. Guns as weapons of war, or for sport and defense have always been deadly, and have been around since our country’s birth. Guns aren’t the problem.
For the love of God, please tell me I missed the /sarc tag in your post.....
.223 NOT designed to kill and only wound?!?!?!?? I think THOUSANDS of fatalaties over the years says otherwise.
You also need to put down whatever hollywood fantasy military doctrine you read from some “expert”.
When a solider is wounded in an active firefight, they are left for the medics. If and ONLY if said medic is overwhelmed with casualties will others be brought into to tend the wounded.
Lastly MikHAIL Kalashnikov was a conscript tanker who happened to be one of those “I can build it better than you types” and came up with his iconic weapon. He did NOT design the AK to wound....sheesh.
“Smaller entry/exit wounds would make it clear that it 223 was used. “
I threw a dead NVA soldier out of the trench I’d just taken cover in. He had a small purple dot on his forehead, just above his right eye. It looked like you had dipped a pencil eraser in purple ink and stamped his forehead.
The back of his skull was completely gone.
We were all toting M-16s and/or .45’s. This was definitely NOT a .45 wound.
5.56/.223 can mess someone up really bad.
Crumb...he’s still kickin butt
Actually plenty of ammo & projectiles available for .223 other than fmj.
!
My weapon of choice for big game comes in .45-70.
ROFLOL!!
Thank-you for your service....
In theory, a flash detector may help conceal the location of a bad guy when he opens fire with an assault weapon
In theory, a folding stock means greater concealment, thereby allowing a bad guy to carry a concealed assault weapon undetected into a crowded area.
The anti-gunners say “Nobody needs an assault rifle”. And they say this without knowing what an assault rifle is. An AR 15 is not an assault rifle and neither is an SKS. An assault rifle has to be capable of full automatic fire. Being black is not enough.
