um - rush is not sitting around thinking a 401k contribution is going to save his wealth - the contribution is a pittance for the ‘rich’

401ks are for the 48-85%ers - THEY are the ones benefiting from a 401k - the ‘middle class’

Rush talking about TIME mag article by Teresa Ghilarducci (no link)

401K’s and IRA’s only benefit the top 20%. That’s not fair.

The 401(k) Is a $240 Billion Waste
http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/11/the-401-k-is-a-240-billion-waste/265593/

Threads:

Suddenly within 24 hours three articles appeared in the NYT, Atlantic Monthly, and Time discussing a Danish “study” about the tax breaks for the 401K plan. Naturally they all discussed whether the government should abolish the tax break for them. What was it they said about never wasting a crisis?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2964121/posts

One of the earliest fears about tax-favored savings accounts like IRAs and 401(k) plans was that when this pool of savings grew large enough Congress would not be able to resist tapping it to help solve the nation’s debt problems. We’re about to find out if those fears—persistent for decades—have been justified.

Everything including the sacred mortgage deduction is on the table as lawmakers wrestle with the fiscal cliff, a year-end avalanche of scheduled spending cuts and tax increases. With a combined $10 trillion sitting in IRAs and 401(k) plans, retirement accounts make a juicy target. Some of this money has never been taxed, and under current law never will be.

I remember those comments during the Monday show's 1st hr... a mini-stroke (TIA) never occured to me. An MRI would show a small white spot on the frontal lobe if that's the case. It's a well-kept secret, whatever it is that happened.

“CP was a no show again today. They still haven’t posted his Monday show where he sounded loopy the first hour repeating himself. He was supposed to sub for the Huckster but hasn’t T,W,Th as of yet. Speculation on the Book About Faces is he had a mini stroke on the air Monday which has been in the back of my mind too. He even said he wasn’t himself on Monday . Pray he’s OK.”

Worried also...

xrmusn posted last night:

Austin __? sitting in for Chris this week.
On Monday he said he would be back sometime during week, Tuesday said couple of days and today said he would be finishing week....

A Hill said today he is finishing the week? Holy crap that doesn’t sound good because CP said he was only subbing for the Huckster Tuesday and HD Hayworth did instead, the Huckster was back yesterday and today. I’m worried now.

“Remember his dad died at 38.”

I’d prefer not to... :-(

BTW: Monday’s show is posted. I will have to listen to it again.

I just thought he was having an off day, but I remember a caller pointing out to him that he was repeating himself.

i don't think this ‘unfunded liability’ stuff is a winning argument for us

since i will eat a bag of fritos in 2024, is that part of my unfunded liability? is a mortgage?

amen

the gop has created the 47% by giving them earned income tax credits and dropping them from tax liability - to get tax cuts for the rest of us

get rid of the progressive income tax

I’m listening to it now! Downloaded it on Monday. They withdrew it? That’s really not good.

I am about 35 minutes into it. He definitely is repeating himself a lot, but I think he often does that when he sets up a subject for callers to call in & then doesn’t get any worth putting on the air.

I say that because he is handling the callers very well, and as witty usual.

Going to keep listening to see what else I can discern. Now fear the worst, however, since you pointed out the podcast was pulled.

One other thing I observed is that he seems to have had a stressful Thanksgiving. Although minimizing it, that is his first topic — the first post-election family Thanksgiving. do you have any stories to tell.

That's really weird because I've been checking several times everyday since Monday afternoon and it still doesn't have a link as of a minute ago. Did you listen till the end? That's when he said he was subbing for the Huckster and is a no show.

Can you post a link to the Monday show?

I don’t know what to say. I tend to download his podcasts late afternoon from his download page, so I am assuming that’s when I downloaded it.

I just finished listening to the whole show, and yes he did mention sitting in for Gov Mike Huckabee at the very end-—after his call with a jerk. They were discussing the contraceptives/obamacare issue, and the jerk kept baiting Plante with “viagra” comments.

Except for first 35 min, which I commented about in last post, he was fine. Not his best show, but other than first 35 min, witty and OK.

At 1hr:28

He says to caller, “I am a little scatter-brained today.”

Caller: “You are repeating yourself a little bit.”

Chris: “Am I?”

Later on, 1hr 38, he said, “I gotta admit that I am a little spacy today. I’m a little off today. I don’t know why. A few days off; lost my usual razor-sharp edge.”

I only noticed repeating himself in first 35 min and gave 2 reasons for why I thought that might be in the last post.

He played the Jamie Foxx-— “and our Lord and Savior, Barack Obama”-— about 6-7 times. Did about 5 min on Obama’s cult following. ??? Notice that youtube is being pulled everywhere??? I really don’t know.

When he was a no-show for Huckabee and then on his own program, I just assumed he was sick-— virus, flu, etc -— not uncommon after Thanksgiving (said he went to Chicago).

I hope that’s all it is, but I am hard-pressed to figure out why this podcast was pulled.

Clint: I downloaded it to my computer/mp3 player. Not sure how to get it to you.

Thanks so much, you reaffirmed my prayers he’s OK.

The Viagra jerk should be archived to show how snot nosed “publik edukated” Libtard wannabes have no credibility, CP destroyed him. That’s why I thought he was OK till today.

I hope it’s a family matter but the subbing for Huckster no-show is still concerning.

There seems to be a particularly virulent flu strain making the rounds, this year. After getting lab blood work done on 11/14, I went down with it on 11/15 and 101-103°F fever finally broke 11/25. It was awful. If that's what he's got, he might be down a while. Hopefully, it's not more serious than that, considering his family (father) history. Since I'm usually out working from 5-6am until 3pm, I listen to him right after Rush, so I didn't d/ld the show. 11 days of flu messed-up my usual TR routine.
