Arguably this song features the most cited guitar playing in the history of rock music. The duet between Joe Walsh and Don Felder redefined the Eagles' sound and led to their greatest stardom and first demise when Walsh grew tired of playing it every night, year after year. Because it's a duet with precision doubling, there was little room for improvisation which restricted Joe and almost drove him insane. When he quit the Eagles he claimed he'd never play it again until "Hell freezes over". In 1994 the band reunited for the "Hell Freezes Over" tour and debuted a new acoustic version of the song that delighted fans and relaunched the band. Never has a guitar part been more iconic and blissful.

It's time to call it a night buckaroos, I hope you get time to listen and save a few to your favorites. Blessings to you all, and I'll see you in church.

Today I tried to feature the best of Joe Walsh and I got part of the way there. There's still a ton of music missing from this retrospective. Every song on Dan Fogelberg's Souvenirs album features Joe (he produced it), as does Michael Stanley's Friends and Legends, John Entwistle's Too Late The Hero and Keith Moon's Two Sides of the Moon. He's worked with Wilson Phillips, The Beach Boys, Al Cooper, Lionel Richie and Bob Seger to name a few. Joe is Ringo's "go to" guy for production, and an anchor in his "All-Starr Band" tours. Since 1968 when I first heard the power-trio from Ohio my cousin played drums for, Joe has dominated my radar. Under-rated? You bet'cha. A genius? Without question. I'm glad that after 20 years without a new solo album that Joe is back and better than ever. It was a pleasure catching him on the "Daryl's House" episode ... I'm just lucky that way ...
