Seaborne commerce is remarkably inexpensive ~ but whether or not US grain is piling up inside that doesn’t lower the world price at all and the internal price is not going to be less than the world price ~ the markets will always make sure the sellers get the highest possible price.
Seems like the unions are trying to shut down everything permanantly. Next what, the grocery stores?
“Seems like the unions are trying to shut down everything permanantly.”
Since people have no discretionary dollars left anyway, these unions can’t do much more damage. I hadn’t eaten Hostess cakes in years, and when I was going to buy some for the kids I couldn’t believe how expensive they were (I really hadn’t bought them in years). It’s too easy to buy any of their competitor’s cheaper stuff; there is simply now way I would pay $1.29 for an apple pie I used to buy for $.50.
In the same manner, if the unions refuse to off-load 2013 Japanese cars, I assure you that won’t cause any change in my purchasing habits either...
