Yeah it used to be ok before it sexualized
I heard or read that later on, they became so focussed on, well, young, rich heathens that anyone who was too old or too fat was politely asked to leave the store, presumably because they'd scare away the young and fashionable.
Even department stores do that today, by refusing to stock certain sizes. "Oh, I'm sorry, sir, that would be size portly, which we only handle through our catalog operation. If you'll go to our Catalog Sales counter, you can order that item through our catalog." (The same as, "We don't serve colored at the front counter -- go around to the back door, though, and someone will fix you a plate [carryout] back there.")
“What happened? Twenty-twelve was, perhaps, a choice between mercy (Obama) and efficiency (Romney)...”
I can think of a number of things equal to Obama, mercy is not one of them. We’ll see how merciful he is to Israel when the radical Islamists make their all-out push to wipe Israel off the face of the earth; or, when a domestic faction resists one of his totalitarian domestic/czar directives; I expect him to be least merciful to us, the US.
That's because the Republican Establishmentarians are elitist rich, white guys. If it were up to them, there'd be property requirements of $1,000,000 in free assets, income of $200,000/year, and a Mayflower lineage attached to the franchise.
But the irony of the "47%" donnybrook is that Romney turned out to be exactly right, n/w/s that Axelplouffe and the rest of the Communist carnivores made it the new "rum, ruin, and Romanism". It turns out that even the fabled Hispanic vote turned out to be just about ripping off people who work, to give los povrecitos de la tierra free stuff por gracias -- y su voto.
By refusing to engage social issues, the Republicans let Obama define the election as being about "my Obamaphone", "my abortion", and "getting my Aunt Juana into the country so she can collect welfare and have her free operation".
