"In the past 100 years — in all of human history -- we have consumed 1 trillion barrels of oil. There are several times that much here," said Roger Day, vice president for operations for American Shale Oil (AMSO).

The amount of oil reportedly discovered is mind-boggling, a most auspicious, fortuitous development for America. This isn't happening tomorrow but the implications of which are huge, changes everything. Imagining the huge problems we face, particularly the budget deficit that Obama has been using as his #1 tool in destroying America the shale oil boom has the capacity to certainly ameliorate, if not eventually resolve the financial catastrophe we've been facing. I don't know how the scenario will play itself out but this discovery seems to be a godsend for us all.

It’s racism to use this drill or use this oil. We must let the Chinese drill for it./s

That’s impossible. All the left wing libtards keep telling me we are running out of oil and have been telling me that for 45 years!

And we know left wing libtards are never wrong! /s (for those that can’t figure out sarcasm if it bit them)

Too Bad!

Once modern US technology begins to focus on the promising oil finds in the low cost countries, this find may be small in relation to the unfound oil fields in third world areas.

Yet, a barrel in the ground, over human posterity, will be worth more than an oil tanker in the near future bush!

I hereby dub this oil find the Colorado-Utah Reserve for Animal Preservation, CRAP for short. This “pristine” wilderness is a vital source of natural heritage that should remain unspoiled by rapacious BIG OIL fiends who just want to poison all the kittens and puppies.

prediction...the endangered albino ear mite, that only lives in the ear of the homo sexual, half-black african rat, will be found to be more important than recovering that oil...

same goes for any other energy sources in our future, unless its subsidized/grafted wind and solar...

This article concerns Green River OIL SHALE, which is currently not economically feasible, in fact far from it. Some claim extraction costs are as low as $80 per barrel, but the truth is well over $100.

SHALE OIL, on the other hand, is economically feasible. These are the deposits we hear about in the Eagle Ford, the Avalon, Bone Springs and Cline (within the Permian Basin), the Bakken and the Monterey/Santos formations.

As for why ABC News would tout oil shale, use the MSM rule that everything is political. The negatives are stuffed at the end of the article. My guess is that they are trying to portray everything as coming up roses under Obama.
