These stories are getting traction. I didn’t think it would hit so quick.
All of the big companies trying to get out ahead of obamacare regs & costs will shortly be getting a visitor from the Obamastapo. The kenyan doesn’t like bad PR and will send in the thugs. Guaranteed.
“Wagmans is one of the top grocery stores in the United States and maybe the world”
=
And I never even heard of them.
.
They’re almost all black here, too. The incompetence is overwhelming. I think there’s five or six white employees, and none at the cash registers. It’s not a matter of demeanor, because most are nice, but very incompetent. I think there’s a high turn over, and it’s a huge store.
When I worked for Kroger in the late 1980’s, I remember it messing with my hours so I wouldn’t join the UFCW. Didn’t care much at the time, as I didn’t care for the UFCW. I wonder if any of the employees affected here are members of the union?
once they get rid of that “loophole”, there will be no more jobs. You have that exactly right.
Over 40K hard layoffs in less than a week, and that’s just what I’ve been able to document.
I’ve never heard of Wagman’s either.
Hiya sweet Naps!!!!
Fly in the ointment here is that they will need to nearly double the number of part-time employees on the payroll in order to cover all their shifts.
Not if you replace a lot of those retail and restaurant employees with touch screens and other forms of automation.
Maybe not so much unemployment as UNDERemployment. However, the same person could work half time each at two different grocery stores and not get Obamacare-bombed. The invisible hand is quicker than the Democrat eye.
A running list of these type hourly work force reductions needs to be maintained.
So far:
Kroger
Papa Johns
Applebees
Durden Restaurants
Who else? Please add.
These companies have to plan 2 to 3 years in advance or shareholders bail.
You left out Papa Johns and Applebee’s.
Fact is that all retail-type businesses will be forced to do the same
Disagree... If an employer has X number of hours of work to be done but has to limit each employee to less than is needed, the only other option they have is to hire more workers. A larger number of workers doing less work essentially accomplish the same amount of work.
To all laid-off or hours-cut-back employees
...Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...if you voted for DIMs/Libs/nobama.
Kroger is the premier grocer in our area, and nothing comes close to them. It is the largest supermarket chain in America, but operates other grocery stores besides the Kroger flagship name.
Yes I did. Good catch! Adding now.
I foresee a mad scramble among workers trying to get a second under 30 hour/week job to get enough hours to make ends meet. The lucky people will have two jobs. The not so lucky or qualified will get poorer real fast.
Companies like Kroger make a KILLING with all those added customers swiping their EBT cards. No surprise here that they support Obama.
It’s Wegman’s. Started in Rochester, NY. Mostly in the NE and mid-Atlantic states, but spreading. Lots of pre-made and specialty foods. Caters to people who have lots of money and don’t like to cook.
