three words:
“I like coal”
I really hope it’s true. However, as a Pennsylvanian I have my doubts. However, if Obama’s internal polls show this same thing, they must be in a panic. If he loses Pennsylvania, he’s done. It’s over. We’ll see how genuine this poll is in the coming days. Neither side is spending money here on political commercials. If they start putting buys in, then we know it’s true.
That’s one state Obama could not afford to lose....
The dems may need to get 300% turnout in Philly.
+++++++++
Impossible. That would be almost a 10% increase from 2008.
Completely out of the question.
The only way to turn Philly is an EMP blast and a 95% die off rate.
But that isn't the salient factor in Pa.
Montgomery County holds the key to Pa.
Just returned from pre election organizing there and its full of hopeless soccer moms with big dumb perma grins plastered on their respective faces, as if all are on high doses of prozac.
I'm not kidding, though if Montgomery flips R, we will take Pa, so its worth serious, all out effort there.
Completely out of the question.
The only way to turn Philly is an EMP blast and a 95% die off rate.
Born in Philly, and still can’t stop laughing at that one.
That and $400.00 for 100 gallons of Type II heating oil isn’t going over very well either. Lots and lots of homes on kerosene.
Based on the # of Louisiana plates in PA working the shale gas wells, crayfish is an apt term.
What is interesting about the Wiki entry on Carlyle is that they have revised the article since I started posting about it on the WSJ comment boards. I have tried posting articles on FreeRepublic about the Carlyle Group, but could never generate any interest.
Carlyle posted two losing quarters this past year, but continued to invest money in failing companies, including SUNOCO and and a coal train company, which operates around the world but was losing money in New England due to the shut down of coal powered plants. The Genessee Wyoming RR is one of Obama’s favorites because it has the rights to tracks out west that Obama needs to carry coal to new coal terminals in Oregon. Sometimes I wonder if Richard Trumka is directing the investments.
Woo-Hoo! More good news! Thanks for the ping, Jaz!
I have to wonder if the dems are faking us out here. They might be trying to get Romney to dilute his campaign resources by focusing outside the “real” swing states.
Last minute changes in strategy may not be a great idea, especially considering how expensive a full tv advertising campaign would be in PA.
I TOLD YOU!... I have been telling people for months.. PENNSYLVANIA is winnable IF Romney/Ryan want to fight for it.
This election is not, was not, and never will be close.
The very idea Obama is going to win the Rust Belt or the South or any part of the country where Blue Dogs hold sway is, was and always will be LAUGHABLE!
Obama will not carry one state that he did not get 55% of the popular vote in 2008.. with perhaps the exception of MN. And he will lose other states he got over 55% (WI).
Fight like its neck and neck folks, but the idea this was going to be close was laughable on its face.
Romney got what 90 minutes or so of UNEDITED UNSPUN direct coverage and was able to counter 4+ years of lies and crap and how many hundreds of millions of dollars to create the lie that Obama was competent, and that Romney was evil.
And frankly he didn’t need more than 10 minutes to show the “emperor had no clothes”.
Fight like its neck and neck, but this thing was NEVER close.
PA was clearly in play on the ground, I dont’ know if R/R will come fight for it, but if they do its theres. Obama has alienated so many people with his complete ineptitude that as I have stated, 42-43% is about as good as he can possibly get on election day, and frankly its very possible he may not even get 40%.
PA Ping!
If you want on/off the PA Ping List, please freepmail me. Thanks!
The closer we've gotten to the election the stronger I feel on this. I don't however think it'll be a blowout like Ronald Reagan's was, there's too many Zer0 worshipers. I still believe there are many more sane people than crazy ones though and few sane ones will vote for this disaster we now have in the WH masquerading as a president.
This is the link to the Carlyle story that I posted a couple of months ago.

We’re in Indiana County, so it’s pretty much a given that Romney will win here. Even though we have many coal mining communities, we still go red. Still, I was up in the northern part of Pa this past weekend - about 40 miles west of Wilkes Barre - and saw a lot of Romney/Ryan and Tom Smith signs. Didn’t see any Obama though! We crossed over into NY - Vestal - and saw ONE Obama sign and a car with Romney bumper stickers. Saw lots of local politician signs, so the enthusiasm for Obama is not there either. Traveling back down to Indiana County, through Clearfield, we saw lots of “Fire Obama” signs. I’m excited. Barring massive voter fraud, we can deliver Pa for Romney. They’ve been getting lots of requests for Romney signs at our local GOP. Still getting more signs in tomorrow!
The population distribution today ensures you won’t get a Reagan route in the EC even if you win by a bigger margin. However Obama will not get above 42-43% of the popular vote
