Stop reading the polls. Stop falling for the msm bull. Understand that there are just a few more of us who work than don’t. That’s all we need.

I’m going to make a donation to Romney over this. Good for him.

But unfortunately he and just about everyone else except Paul Ryan ignore the biggest moochers of all. The biggest consumers of federal tax dollars are the people on Medicare and Social Security Grandpa and Grandma. What they contributed as taxpayers is very small compared to what they are taking out.
Upon retirement, the long-lived oldsters use up their meager FICA contributions in the first three or four years. After that, its on you and me. But nobody dares touch the third rail of politics. Even though entitlements will bring our country DOWN.

One thing that really also needs to be done ...is EXPLAIN to many of these dunderheads that “government” money is just not FREE. It’s taxpayer’s money.
Lots of them, and I know many personally — do NOT understand this concept. they think it’s just free money sitting there — and they should get it — because they’re “poor.”
Believe it or not, many of them do NOT understand that it comes from taxpayers!

LOL good luck with that. I may not feel like I'm in that age range, but I am in fact in that age range, and the people around this age vote in higher numbers that most other groups.
I may agree with you, but no politician wanting to stay in office or keep his party in power will go after that group. Romney barely has a spine as it is, calling a press conference after 10pm last night to explain his "off the cuff" remarks. Trying to get him to go after the people you are talking about is not something he's going to do. You are better off chasing after government waste in the military or other parts of the federal government.

I like your pic — Bain Capital vs. Das Kapital.
That sums up the difference.
It’s awful hard for me to like much of anything about Romney except that he’s better than his opponent, but that’s a good one.

Lose independents over the truth?! Even independents are sick and tired of being the 53% that foot the bills.

You’re right about the politics. Down the drain we go.

There is one other aspect - besides the fact that so many in that age range vote, if you do anything that impacts them financially, and causes them to lean on their children, their children are going to vote.
Even though it's a huge problem, it is political suicide to tamper with that group. You can't cut off Medicare/Social Security, because you don't want to be the administration or party that put millions of elderly on the streets or forced their children to take care of them, even though their grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have to clean up after them.
We are a society that puts our problems off. Too many rack up credit card debt, thinking they can take care of it down the road. We pay out more in benefits than we should, etc. etc.
The bill will come due one day, and people like you will be able to say "I told you so", but unfortunately nobody is willing to talk about the problem today.
