How many McCasket signs did you see? My guess is pretty close to zero. Around here, there are virtually NO signs up for ANY candidate. It’s just too early.

As I was driving yesterday, I thought about your question, and decided I was not going to help Claire's campaign. So I am not going to say how many.

How many McCasket signs did you see? Good question. I'm glad you asked it

The following is the answer I gave to the first time asked....

As I was driving yesterday, I thought about your question, and decided I was not going to help Claire's campaign. So I am not going to say how many.

We finally got rain last night and had short term power outage and my computer is acting like it has a liberal bug, and will not always allow me to control it. So I am sorry I did not see your question when I answered it the first time.

They forgot Vicky Hartzler.

No he did not forget Vicky. He said she had not expressed any interest... I prefer she stay put, I like her and now that some sanity entered redistricting, I am back in her district. He also said that Akin would have to be a part of any selection if it comes to that. I just pray this state can send Claire packing back to her nursing home empire.

I prefer she stay put

I think that's the opinion of those in Emerson's and Wagner's districts as well. And why they too have expressed no interest as well.

And therein lies the rub.

Now I'm even more certain you didn't see a single McCasket sign.

As mad as I am at Todd Akin for his sheer stupidity I do feel sorry for the man.

Against all odds he won the the Republican nomination for the Senate seat when two better know candidates beat up on each other and allowed Akin to steal victory.

He instantly became the odds on favorite to win the seat against the hapless incumbent. At that point he should have gathered himself and thanked God, his supporters and incredible luck for his good fortune. He should have made a vow to be a smart, deliberate, disciplined and focused candidate.

Instead he gives off-the-cuff stupid answers to a question that a high school pro-life canditate running for class president could have answered. Unbelievable!

I know he must feel sick about the whole thing. His crowning professional achievement has just been snatched away from him. He also must be furious with himself to have this opportunity to fight for just causes he feels passionate about slip away from him so quickly.

I can only imagine that it is too early for him to accept this bitter result and he is grasping at any and all possibilities to get back to that place he was at a mere ten days ago. It is a tragedy. It is a terrible personal loss, but it is one he will have to accept sooner or later.

He may still be in denial but he and others deep down must know that he can no longer be the effective spokesman and champion for the causes he claims to hold so dear.

We will soon learn what type of man Todd really is. Is his character and heart big enough to realize he made a fatal error? Is he smart enough to know that someone else has to assume the leadership role? At what point will he recognize he cannot win? Will he bow out gracefully and allow another undamaged candidate, who has an infinitely better chance to defeat Caskill, assume the nomination before it is too late.

I am really sad this happened. It is a personal tragedy for Todd Akin. However, it was a tragedy of his own making. Now, the ball is in his court. Will he accept responsibility for his own actions and allow others to do what he no longer can, namely defeat Senator Claire Caskill.

Go out a hero Todd. Do the right thing. Spend the rest of your career championing all the causes you firmly believe in, but now you have to do it behind the scenes. Be bold, be courageous, do the right thing, Todd.

As I was driving yesterday, I thought about your question...
O _ M _ G!!! You are one amazing individual! I'm completely dumbfounded!
You knew a full day before I asked you a question what it would be so you could think about it!

...and decided I was not going to help Claire's campaign. So I am not going to say how many.
You'll pardon me if I conclude from the tenor of your posts that you actually saw none and it's actually Akin's campaign that you would be helping if you stated how many signs you saw

Ok you want to pick my nose, but I do not wish to return the favor.... I messed up my answer... I did in fact have Fresh Wind's question go through my mind 'yesterday', I just screwed up in how I answered his question. See I do not have any problem taking personal responsibility when I misspeak/mistype, it is NOT your fault, or anyone else.

I do in fact silently ask my self questions, and I did ask myself do I state on a public forum or in a face to face conversation about the 'status' of Claire's campaign. I did answer myself and decide I was going to stay MUM.

...and decided I was not going to help Claire's campaign. So I am not going to say how many.

You have the freedom to conclude whatever you choose to conclude .... However, you are completely out to lunch if you think I have any intentions to do anything to help Claire's campaign. I was NOT joking when I asked when you were coming up to Missouri to HELP the Akin campaign.

Akin needs money, lots and lots and lots of money, send him all that is legal, get everybody you know to send him the 'legal' amount.

I feel sorry for him, too. He thought he had a mandate when instead he had cross-over Democratic voters and a couple of million dollars worth of ad buys from McCaskill. She wanted to face him in the general election because he would be the easiest to beat.

I don’t think he will step down, his hubris won’t let him. I am dreading the next two months and the myraid of opportunities he will have to put his foot in his mouth again.

No, I'm quite willing to let you pick your own nose. Pick fun...well, that's a whole 'nuther story'.

See I do not have any problem taking personal responsibility when I misspeak/mistype...
I don't either. See reply 150 and 151.

I was NOT joking when I asked when you were coming up to Missouri to HELP the Akin campaign.
And as I said I don't live there nor do I have any intention of moving there.

Akin needs money, lots and lots and lots of money, send him all that is legal, get everybody you know to send him the 'legal' amount.

So what are you doing to help the Akin campaign?
It looks like I'm helping him more from Texas than you are in Missouri as I'm not the one bashing and ganging up on him.
It's your State, apparently, and your State's election so you send him money if you want to help him.

Or do you want McCaskill to win?

You are right. The Democrats knew exactly what they were doing. It is so unfortunate. I also blame his campaign consultants for not emphasizing how critical it was to stay focused and on message.

Of course, maybe they did and the guy is so full of himself he felt he could do and say anything he wanted. So tragic and so sad.

The personal agony that Todd is going through must be horrific. Unfortunately, he will continue to cause harm not only to his own candidacy but the conservative and pro-life movement also. We are going to hear the words “legitimate rape” until the end of the election.

I can only hope that Akins comes to his senses and does the right thing. Cheers.

I just noticed something peculiar about all of your replies on this thread...you haven't used one single contraction...not a one...in any instance when you could've.

No crystal ball nor mind reading necessary...your words were more than sufficient.

Since you don't really care to hear what I have to say I won't bother commenting.
