Republicans are just as stupid as Bill Mahre, Chris Matthews, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS says they are.

I disagree.

The only change to the life plank in the platform should be a specific mention that in the case of rape the party is in favor of the death penalty for the rapist, not the innocent child.

You, Sir, are no Conservative.

I'm pro life and against the death penalty. What does that make me? Just looking for a determination.

So, what do the frequency or content of my posts have to do with either? The integrity of this forum is in no danger. If it was, Jim would contact me personally.

Well, I'm complimented - two replies. That's about six months worth of output.

I'm joking, but only a little. There is, if you have been paying attention, a sudden influx of very long-time, very low-volume posters, as there often is during times of controversy, and not all of them are who they pretend to be. Personally I'm glad to have you back.

Other than I’m a spineless wimp, what are your ideas about winning this next election so conservatives can call the shots for a change. Or are you all about losing, calling people names, and bitching about all the democrats in office killing unborn babies. You won’t be able to do a damn thing about it except brag to all and be sanctimonious about how you are the most anti-abortion person on this forum and call everyone who disagrees with you a spineless wimp.

I am no poser. I am as conservative as anyone on this forum and always have been. I understand, as you do, that the kind of lame-brain statements made by Republicans over the last two days can and will cost us this election if we don’t get control of the narrative soon.

Most of the time I enjoy the commentary on this forum as a lurker. Lately, I’ve felt that it was necessary to remind everyone that conservatives cannot get away with saying stupid things and lose sight of our goal.

PRetty close to me. Although I’m for the death penalty when it is clear the person is a murderer. I simply don’t have much faith in our current justice system to get things right. And it scares me to think of killing people who turn out not to be guilty.

I believe God supports the death penalty. But we would have to be a Godly nation to have God’s blessing on our justice system, and I don’t know that we are anymore.

As apposed to the complete Sub-Moronic Idiots that make up the vast majority of the Democrat Party? How much dumber is Joe Biden than Aiken?

Let's get real. Aikin said what is an incorrect and none too bright of a thing, that being said, the reality is that VERY few rapes result in pregnancy. As a matter of fact, very few sexual acts result in pregnancy, that is why their aren’t trillions of people on the planet.

When a pregnancy is the result of rape. The innocent victim does not help her circumstances, nor that of her unborn child by aborting the offspring. As tragic as it is, these children can easily be adopted and lead very fulfilling lives. The woman would also not be burdened with not only being raped, but also being a willing accomplice to the death of a child.

MOST infants put up for adoption are readily and easily placed with adoptive parents. Even those with abnormalities and disorders. Healthy infants of ALL races and both gender are ALL adopted at a 100% rate. Those who are the product of rape would be easily placed as well.

The number one problem with adoption services in this country is the LACK of available children for adoption. We are missing well over a million available infants every year. More than are aborted every year could be adopted to loving TWO parent (MALE FEMALE) Married couples of all means groups.

Almost EVERYTHING that Planned Parenthood says is an out right lie. The lack of available adoptive parents is the LEAST problem faced by a woman with ANY type of unplanned pregnancy.

I simply don’t have much faith in our current justice system to get things right. And it scares me to think of killing people who turn out not to be guilty.

A life sentence always leaves open the possibility to attempt to correct the injustice. And look at the growing number of examples of people found to be innocent through later DNA testing.

Our thinking seems to be exactly the same on this. At least, that is the basis of my position.

It makes you a very confused individual.

It makes me a conservative and I would argue yours is the very confused conservative position.

Let me try to explain my thinking. In China and other totalitarian states that do not have the English rule of law, the thinking is that if you put to death an innocent person, oh well, that is a price people must pay in society.

The conservative view of the English rule, the system of law handed down to us, is that it is a bigger crime to convict one innocent person than to let 10 guilty people go free. Individual liberty is paramount.

I understand conservative values start to slip and people get tired of watching obvious criminals avoid the death penalty. But the true conservative holds the view that sticking to conservative values in the end the system is preserved and follows a right course.

The definition of conservative is now so tweaked out of shape that I believe few understand it and confuse it with political movements that seems the closest to being conservative. That is how you get conservatives thinking it is conservative to be in favor of the death penalty.

In reality support of the death penalty is a very liberal view of our system of justice.

In America conservatives seek to uphold Constitutional law. The death penalty is clearly contemplated by that document. Therefore supporting the death penalty is the correct conservative position.

You either support the Constitution, or you don’t. And you clearly don’t.

Have a nice day.

The death penalty is not mentioned in the US Constitution anywhere. It is not mentioned in any Amendment either. The Eighth Amendment prohibits any cruel and unusual punishment, but the US Supreme Court has ruled that the death penalty is not in and of itself cruel and unusual.

More to the point, you have avoided the question. Is it a bigger crime to convinct one innocent person than to let 10 guilty people go free and that protects individual liberty? Or do you favor a system of government and social norms as found in China or other totalitarian states where the the state is more important than the individual?

Simple enough question. What is your answer?
