The officers he attacks are now civilians with full First Amendment rights. Did SecDef Panetta 'suggest' Gen. Dempsey go nuclear on these vets?

Dempsey is easily replaceable, the guy is full of himself. Dempsey is really doing a bang up job as well as the rest of the joint chiefs political rectum kissers. Military moral is at a all time low as current operations are futile and wasting resources up the ying-yang.

"US military chief General Martin Dempsey denounced ex-officers Tuesday for waging a campaign against President Barack Obama, arguing that soldiers had a duty to stay above the political fray."

If that's the case, why is he even commenting on the issue?

But it was OK when disgruntled ex-Bush officials were going public trashing Bush after they were fired. Colon Bowel (a.k.a. “The Most Interesting Man In The World”) had no problem running his mouth.

The media couldn’t get those eggheads on the 6 o’clock news fast enough. What a crock that was. When was the last time you heard somebody fired from a company say, “Working there was great! Best company ever! Loved every minute! The leadership was top-notch!”

Dempsey says officers should be above the fray, but here he is in the fray....and he’s active duty, the very time at which they are to be above the fray.

When retired or exited service, they are perfectly free to speak of anything except classified information.

My thoughts are....

Hey Dempsey, SFB you're to support & defend the CONSTITUTION not a political party, any real general would know that.

And what "prior" service members (like any American) think & do, are none of your business, its called exercising their "First Amendment Rights"

Punk ass cowards (just like you) are a dime a dozen.... So STFU and continue servicing your master.

Just sayin

Substitute “Marshall Zhukov” for “General Dempsey” and “Comrade Stalin” for “President Obama” and you have a 75 year old story from Pravda.

Dempsey is correct for “ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY PERSONNEL”. When military members are no longer on active duty or have been discharged or retired they have the same rights as any other citizen to voice their political preferences. Reserve and National Guard members not on active duty have the same rights as long as they don’t express them in Military Uniform. The Nation has a long history of Veterans becoming involved in politics and General Dempsey shouldn’t confuse Veterans rights with Active Duty Personnel Restrictions.

Your comment was my immediate first thought. My second thought was...and by going public with his denouncement, active-duty Dempsey is doing exactly what he falsely condemns others of doing.

General “Benedict Arnold” Dempsey can Rot in hell for all I care. These ex-soldiers have every right to denounce the communist scum occupying the White House.

I would submit that this comment by the Gen to retired military infringing on their First Amendment rights is more offensive than Akin’s comment...
The Gen should know better.

I’ve posted this before but it always makes me smile:

A retired four-star related the story when he discovered he was no longer in the service. He saw a convoy going down the interstate and driving too fast. He pulled up next to the lead vehicle and put his hand out to signal they slow down. The driver of the lead vehicle quickly looked at him and gave him the middle-finger salute. The general said at that moment he realized he has no longer in the service.

“stay above the political fray?”

What would the general say his comments are? “Above the political fray?” NOT! Stupidity should hurt.

The General has things exactly backwards. If anything, veterans have a greater right to express their opinions because they have defended that right, personally, with their service. And they have secured that right for their countryman.

What logic dictates that those who served to protect liberty for all should be denied it for themselves? Good order and discipline rightly require active duty military to not PUBLICALLY enter the political fray; but veterans are an altogether different story.

Where was this guy when Gen. Wesley Clark was bashing Bush on every broadcast he could find?

Yeah, thought so.

I have a “suggestion” for him: If you’re only going after someone for bashing Obama, pull up your skirt. Your liberal bias is showing.
