Thanks for your posts- the explanations make sense to me.

What really distresses me is that because of the leadership we have in Washington it is EASY to believe these purchases could be part of some darker plan.

.357 is not necked down .40 caliber cases. If one were to neck down .40 in the attempt to make .357sig cases they would find it's too short.

Further .357Sig isn't quite the ballistic equivalent of .357 Magnum and last I checked .357 Magnum wasn't penetrating vests.

I'm all for people contacting their Senator or Congressman, but let's not sound as ignorant as the typical media flunky that calls everything a "AK47".

I got the e-mail from a personal friend who is a retired federal LE still well connected on the national level. Both he and his association of retired LEs are concerned about the purchases and composed the letter. That sends off huge alarm bells in my mind.

That’s how it is done. There is even a bill going through the legislature right now to cut out the DA and the local courts in prosection of “offenders.” It sets up expanded DFG administrative authority to issue large fines without a trial, cross examination etc.

Hm, if it passes: 18 USC 241, 18 USC 242, and 1983 prosecutions should all be perused. (That's felony, felony, civil.)

I’m concerned too but that doesn’t mean that factually incorrect letters should be sent out to congress. If the letter displays ignorance it really detracts from the over all message.
