Do't agree with Chavez on everything, but she nails it here.
Its a sick society that allows its women in harms way.

We don’t “allow” anything. The women freaking INSIST.
And “mere” men are certainly not allowed to stand in a their way for any reason.

Linda, tell you what. You stand in front of the ring and try and stop these women.
Go ahead.
Have fun with that.

a perfect illustration
if a conservative doesn’t like something, they don’t do it.
if a liberal doesn’t like something they demand it be banned.

There is no minor league or quality cut in boxing like other sports. Almost anyone can cut a hole in a towel and step into the ring to be a tomato can for a few rounds. But for those who take the sport seriously, it demands the utmost commitment.
Good boxers, like gymnasts must be nearly perfect in form and conditioning just to compete. Serious boxers have no room in their life for almost anything else but training. The sport absorbs them entirely, man or woman. That's why you see so many boxers from difficult backgrounds, like crime and drugs. The sport takes them away from all that; it provides a path for their ambition, a a way to channel their energy into something that will bring reward and recognition.
Above all else, that's what's good about boxing.

Give me a break man! This is a ridiculous definition of a sick society.
Its not like young girls are kidnapped and sold into boxing slavery! They freely choose to engage in this activity and should have the right to do so.
Life is a short and dangerous affair. We are all in harms way at any given instant. If you think otherwise I say you are being blissfully foolish.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and interpolations but it makes little sense to me when I take your words literally and expand the idea outside of this particular context (boxing).
Just think about how dangerous the freeways are. Would you say its a sick society that lets women drive?
How about rock climbing, or skydiving, or anything like that. Tones of activities carry the very real risk of death or injury.
The idea that we must be a sick society because women are allowed to put themselves in harms way just doesnt compute. Sorry, I think its more of an indicating of sick society when we are willing to give up freedoms and liberties because we insist in living in fear and want more laws to protect us from ourselves. But, thats just my opinion.

I’m basing my perspective upon 5000 years of recorded human history. Its my opinion, however unpopular these days, and I fully understand many disagree.

It’s all about eyeballs watching the ads on the tv screen. Many men are turned on by women’s hitting one another, so they watch.

Its a sick society that allows its women in harms way.Yes, let's go back to the days when women were not allowed to drive because it was thought they could not handle a automobile, let's go back to the early Olympics when the only 3 women's sports were badminton, croquete and tennis.
I'm a male who loves strong, athletic and confident women.

I'm a male who loves strong, athletic and confident women. Thats probably because you see things that aren't there and respond hysterically.
Someone's gotta take care of you.

Its all about eyeballs watching the ads on the tv screen. Many men are turned on by womens hitting one another, so they watch. I haven't watched any women's boxing, so I cannot say ... but I wonder: At whom are the TV ads aired during women's boxing aimed? One can often tell whether a particular ad is aimed at women or at men.

Interesting choice of words ... very interesting. I usually see that terminology used by radical, man-hating, lesbian feminists.
