I have seen similar statements and they puzzle me. Why is it important to you that your last name be carried forward? I have never seen a statement by a woman bemoaning the fact that her name will not be carried forward.
I think it’s a male identity thing. It’s one very prominent cultural standard that hasn’t yet been bastardized except by the hyphenated-last-name crowd. My wife was proud to take my last name, I was raised to be proud of the name I carry, and I intend to imbue that pride in my sons, God willing.

And for that matter, don’t live with them either, unless you enjoy living with this risk of going to jail and having an arrest record anytime she gets mad at you.

It’s true, people are looking and staying younger. And while I love “All in the Family”, as a woman in her 40s, I’m thankful I don’t look like Edith, LOL.
