A Navy Vet,
I too am a Navy veteran. I received my shotgun training from the Navy during counter insurgency school in the late 60s. Both of my shotguns are military surplus Mossberg 500s. I was just curious how they could make two supposedly identical weapons and have one kick and one not.
Jack
I also got my shotgun training in the Navy many years back. They taught from the shoulder which after so many rounds can start to bother with a 870. But after recently shooting from the hip, I was pleasantly surprised the recoil means nothing and you can still hit your target, at least within home defense. I always thought shotgun shooting from the hip or under arm in the movies was something Hollywood made up.
A friend of mine used to manage a bank branch and he told me a story about how a local man who was known to open carry was in the bank making a deposit when a man with a mask rushed into the foyer area. He saw the guy with the open carry gun and ran as fast as possible out of the bank.
No one could possibly calculate how many crimes have been stopped cold by guns that are still in their holsters.
Wouldn't surprise me to learn that the ChiGook executioners are using disintegrating bullets.
Gracias...
