That is why the paucity of principled candidates bodes ill. Tyranny will not come to us with a crashing collapse... But rather, it will come from the erosion of liberties 'made necessary' to prevent the collapse... The crash will come nonetheless. And we are seeing it happen right before our eyes. Now, more than ever, principle must reign.
Therefore I don't give a good load of used food for "Godwin" or his "Law." If other folks do, then they can just be offended. I am often offended by them without whining about it.
I suspect "Godwin" of being a left-winger or an absolute fool. Both of those sorts think that the use of "Hitler" or "Nazi" is their sole right and only to be hurled at right-wingers. It never occurs to either that Lenin and Stalin killed 50 million and Chairman Mao 75 million. It never occurs to them that Nazi meant National Socialist German Workers' Party (successor to the National Workers' Party) because they love "socialist" and hate Hitler.
If someone like Iran's Ahmanutjob came along to demand the extermination of the Jewish people, I would not refrain from using the term Nazi or the term Hitler in referencing Ahmanutjob or the Iranian Mullahs. Leftists don't like it??? Tooooo bad!!!!
Finally, the term was not original to me. Some Romney sycophant equipped with Mittler knee pads and prepared to perform verbal Lewinskies on the Great Liar used it in a charge that Mittler's opponents (civilized human beings who take babies, marriages, religion and guns, among many other things, seriously) might call Romney Mittler. Sounded like a plan to me. And I told the Romney sycophant whose name is not worth bothering to remember that at the time.
Yeah, I've heard of Godwin's "Law." I have no idea of who Godwin is/was and I have no more intention of being governed by his silly nonsense than I have of being governed by Obozo or Mittler. Aren't you also offended by "Obozo???"

I would put him in a class with Darwin whose "theory" is worth knowing to refute it and whose background as a failed theology student is part of the refutation. Godwin merely attacks common sense while Darwin attacked Scripture, Christianity and Western Civilization which would make Darwin more worth googling.
Hopefully that "goodbye" is a promise and not merely a threat. I have one life to live and choose not to waste it on the unjustifiably pretentious likes of you. You may return now to the Mittler pom pom girl routine or whatever other heresies you may harbor. You may not control both ends of a conversation, and the vocabulary of each side, try though you may.
