This has never happened in NYC, so far as I can remember. There are miles and miles of outside tracks in NY, and while there have been problems in the winter with switches freezing, I don’t ever remember a derailment caused by heat.

So they built a system in Washington that couldnt take 100 degree temperatures? Either stupidity before or lying now.
This says it all, the funny thing being that the author and publisher gave the book this particular title oblivious to the irony of it ...
