Look, Mr. Hypersentive,
I have no problem with Koreans eating dog, kimchi or anything else except themselves because cannibalism befits no one. But I bet there have been instances in North Korea where this has possibly happened because of how dire the hunger situation is for them. I don’t want to see the North Korean people suffer from hunger or from any of the other maladies associated with collectivism that has been imposed upon them for a number of decades.
There are South Korean groups that are sending food, money and other things into the North by way of helium balloons which I fully support and hope they continue to increase. At first the balloon missions were covert and secret because the South Korean government would try to stop them to keep relations between the two countries somewhat friendly. After the NorKs destroyed the ROKS Cheonan corvette the government now fully endorses those ballooning activities.
If it was possible I would like to see a joint military airlift of food by the USA and South Korea into North Korean similar to the Berlin Airlift to East Germany from 1948 to 1949 after the Soviets started walling off East from West. If it happened I’m sure that there would be plenty of traditional Korean dishes served including dog, kimchi, and others as well as American stuff that would probably disgust them.
The whole tongue-in-cheek idea of airlifting dogs by C-17s, having them run off the cargo ramp and parachuting them into NorK-land is just a joke. You need to get a sense of humor. I’m sorry for offending you. I did not mean for it to come across that way.
All the Koreans I have ever met are good and decent people and have no animus against them. I look forward to the day when the North Korean government collapses and Koreans on both sides of the current border will be united. And the collectivist leaders be jailed and prosecuted for their crimes against the Korean people.
Sorry about the multiple posts. From what I could see from my end my post wasn’t getting through.
“The point of using opossum is to point out that people will eat whats available.”
This is why I LOVE Free Republic! Where else can one go to have a rousing opossum vs. dog debate full of insults, passion and cultural defensiveness? I’m waiting for you guys to start trading recipes and arguing about that.
Can anyone out there who has eaten both tell me which tastes better?
Depends on how its prepared.
If you want to support balloon flights of food, money, socks, and other items to North Korean you can donate to these organizations.

It looks like Voice of The Martyrs sends faxes to the NorKs as well as balloons.

Even though this is a drop in the bucket for what the North Korean people need this is at least a start.
I don’t know which tastes better since I have tried neither but I have heard dog does make you feel warm all over after eating it. Others on FR have said the same.
“Is this a trick question?”
Depends on how you define “is” in the sentence!
It’s OK. Great, in fact. We need a few laughs these days. Thought you might have meant to make a funny.
