Maraniss is not a historian and never was one. He is at best a biographer, writing bios of Clinton, Gore, and others . Like many journo-hacks he indulges his Walter Mitty fantasies of writing true history instead of mere 'fact-checking.' He should be content to be a competent fact checker.

Maraniss seems unaware of the way the world works - something quite unlikely for an educated adult. There are many, many educated adults that have little knowledge of the ways of the world. Those people have been educated beyond their intelligence and are commonly referred to as Liberals.

Maraniss wants to have his cake and eat it, too. He (and his publisher) will welcome massive right-wing book buyers but he wants to maintain his invitations to the progressive DC/NY dinner parties.

We had two private receptions with RUSH as we were one of a dozen businesses that sponsored and underwrote these trips here. LOL... He flew the Redeye express and someone with a small plane picked him up in Sacramento and flew him up here in the North Woods

Personally I am not all that sure that he even is black. Many other groups are as dark or darker than he is and aren't black. A DNA test would be helpful.
Does anyone have that picture of him on the beach looking oh so white?
