A republican form of government is evidently the most rational form that men have devised for the protection of person and property, and for securing liberty. But hitherto no means have been devised to guard this form of government from abuse and corruption. Men in republics are as wicked, and as selfish as in monarchies, and with far more power to introduce disorders, both into legislation and into the administration of the laws. In republics, the influence of selfish and ambitious men over the weak, the ignorant and unsuspecting, has its full range of operation; and sooner or later, this influence will place in office incompetent men, or men who will sacrifice principle to personal emolument or aggrandizement. The corruption of the electors is the first step towards the ruin of republics; and when the sources of power are corrupted, the evil hardly admits of a remedy.
....
In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidatelook to his character as a man of known principle, of tried integrity, and undoubted ability for the office.
It is alleged by men of loose principles, or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness. But if we had no divine instruction on the subject, our own interest would demand of us a strict observance of the principle of these injunctions. And it is to the neglect of this rule of conduct in our citizens, that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breaches of trust, peculations and embezzlements of public property which astonish even ourselves; which tarnish the character of our country; which disgrace a republican government; and which will tend to reconcile men to monarchy in other countries and even in our own.

Very encouraging post, thank you.
To tell you the truth, When you consider the fact that according to testimony it was a plan originally designed to bring anout Strict Gun Control if not an actual Ban. In Other words, They Set out to they put forth a plan to OVERTHROW THE 2ND AMENDMENT TO THE US CONSTITUTION AND THEREBY THE US CONSTITUTION ITSELF. We used to call this TREASON, Hundreds if not Thousands of Innocent People DIED during this Attempt to overthrow the Constitution, they WILLFULLY AND KNOWINGLY GAVE AID AND COMFORT to the ENEMY IN THE WAR ON DRUGS, DURING A TIME OF WAR. They EVEN LAUNDERED the DRUG CARTELS PROFITS for them, so Yes I expected him to SHOOT HIM RIGHT THERE IN THE CONGRESS. The Charges should be TREASON not contempt.
I've talked with a number of LEOs about this and they've all said, "Are you kidding? What a stupid idea. It wouldn't work. Doomed for failure" . . and the most common response has been "What for?" . . "Put my guys and department at risk."
While I have a smidgen less cynicism than you, I doubt you could have more "inertia" than I. LOL. I would guess that I am more a part of the problem than the solution (except for the prayers that I offer on behalf of our nation, and the fact that I stay informed and vote).
I have heard Michael Savage say "You would not want me to be President!" and I guess I know what he means:
How would our nation develop if proof of citizenship and literacy were required before voting?
What if a state sponsored a religion, is that unconstitutional ("Congress shall make no law....")?
What would be the effect of eliminating the capital gains tax completely?
Don't get me started on the government's responsibility to protect our borders....argh!
I guess I don't have much else to say, but carry on and God bless you!
‘Fast and Furious: Eric Holder gave Congress an ultimatum of no further cooperation if contempt vote’
The arrogance of Eric Holder is stunning. Not only did he not provide the documents requested but gave Congress an ultimatum in his meeting with Issa today:
Sadly the Attorney General said in the meeting that if we go forward with contempt wed get no cooperation from that time forward. On the other hand he said that if we would take the briefing wed have to close the case. Were sorta between a rock and a hard spot.
Will the Repubs allow the Dems to slither into another hole and escape?
Sadly Yes..
But Congress can investigate with or without Romney’s consent. I only hope that his coat tails sweep in a few firebrands.
They have to stonewall. The next layer exposes NSC, WH and State operatives in my opinion.
Holder asking Pres Obozo to invoke executive privilege.
Big headline on The Drudge Report...
‘HOLDER ASKS OBAMA FOR EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE ON F&F DOCS’
Folks, this will be bigger than Watergate (where nobody died! Obama, Jarrett, Napolitano, Holder are all involved in this crime against humanity.
Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird and little childish that politicians tweet?
Holder is scared because he doesn’t know exactly which documents Issa already has.
