Aww, and here I was thinkin’ you were trying to make up.
Well, it certainly is a contender. Posts make it what it is, no?
Well, certainly yours helps to contribute—
Cats are the link between the rodents and humans. Usually, cats come in contact with dead rodents (particularly ground squirrels or prairie dogs) and being the fleas inside. In in NM, in an area that is ground zero for plague in the US, and that’s how it happens.
“Only a freeper could turn a story about a guy dying of the plague into a left-right political issue. Sigh...”
Most of us are here for the politics and the gallows humor about the human condition is just icing on the cake.
You’re late to the party - but have fun - pile on, lol!
Well; am enjoying reading it; as it bumps along the edges of much of our history It is certainly not 'heavy'; you can pick it up at anytime; without losing a 'story line'.
This book follows young and restless - and talented Americans. Chronicles their challenges at home in America; and eventually abroad; much of it; in their own words. Book speaks, as well; to that which defined - and grew - our culture; and how it compared to those much older. Even though, that 'old' world, was carried to America; our culture was nonetheless, by and large; uniquely American and 'rough hewn'.
Altogether; a thoughtful and interesting read - thus far/lol - and one that reminds us; again; that so much changes in time; and so much does not! Interesting to take this 'step back' in time. . .and see the comparisons; and appreciate the differences; and lament some of which, at least appears; 'forever' lost.
Then I marvel that I'm alive. Year ago I and a friend cleaned out a small building located near a city dump. We removed at least 12 dead rats and the floor was covered an inch deep with dried rat feces. We used a flat shovel and push brooms to clean up, and the dust was choking. Never again.
Thanks so much....I like history, but need something a little lighter right now....maybe I’ll get the Kindle version!
This is my version of making up.
One of the best features of this book are the pictures/photographs! Maybe wait; read 'light'; and wait till Fall for this read; OR. . .buy book and just look at pics, for now.
(It is in 'soft cover'. I bought mine at airport; whereby you can read and turn back in; within six months and 'buy' another. Mine already 'dog eared'; however/lol.)
(Have Cheney's book too; and look forward to that read, as well. Did start; but got 'interrupted'; so back to this one, soon.)
I think I want to be unfriended.

Thanks for the info, Woodsman. Eauggh, creepy thinking about plague cats on top of rodents and fleas.
THANKS...re: the pictures....I do NOT think I will get the Kindle version!!!
LOL, on the pics ;-). . .
Anyone 'else' here; ever chase 'mercury balls' around the floor, from the broken thermometer?
