Great idea, though I might just say “cavalry” and nickname them the “troopers.”
having a team named a people is an honor like the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the Minnesota Vikings, the Swedes of Bethany College in Lindsborg Kansas, etc. Eliminating the Fighting Souix would further reduce the number of non-white groups that are honored in this manner.
The Liberals hate these names not only because of the stated reasons, but also because they are uncomfortable with martial values in any form.
They do not want to be reminded that the Sioux were incredibly brave fighters because then they would have to acknowledge the worth of their warrior culture, and by extension other warrior cultures, including the American military, which they despise in all it’s forms — and that definitely includes surrogate warfare like American football.
If the Libs win this battle, they will simply choose another target. Their ultimate goal is to eliminate the warrior ethos completely, which means eliminating all forms of ritualized conflict, right down to chess and checkers.
What the F* is that provincial dog crap. Name them the Bismack Iron Chancellors.
What kind of provincial crap is that. Name them the Bismarck Iron Chancellors.
The Fighting Field Mice
The Fighting Hollyhocks
The Fighting Inchworms
I wonder if the PC monkeys in the NCAA would object if UND was called the North Dakota Fighting North Dakotans? How could they object to that? Is NDSU still called the Bison? I bet the PC slime bags looked at that, and just gave up trying to change that name.
