I thought he was the Godfather of Mike Piazza? He certainly gets around.

Yup from post number 24.
“Lasorda, 82, now has two godsons who are major league catchers. The first was Mike Piazza, a 12-time All-Star who hit .308 with 427 homers.”

My favorite Lasorda quote:
"For starting pitchers we have two Dominicans, one Italian, one Mexican and one Japanese. In the bullpen we have a Venezuelan, a Mexican, a guy from the United States and a guy from St. Louis."
God bless him.

Amen
Even before he became manager and was a coach he'd come off with that kind of stuff.
Walt Alston, as I remember him, was a pretty quiet type guy so Tommy didn't get that stuff from Walt.
God bless them both.

Actually, Jerry Doggett (9/14/16 7/7/97) was. Best Baseball team and best announcing team...ever!
God bless Tommy Lasorda or, as we say in Italian...Lasagna belly (lol), and the L.A. Dodgers.

I still remember Lasorda flying out of the dugout in 1988 as Kirk Gibson pinch- homered in the 9th inning off Dennis Eckersley : )
THAT was a moment in time! Still gives me goosebumps and waters my eyes.
BTW, how are you doing?
