Most capable diesel powered submarines are build for Israeli Navy - Dolphin class submarines with an AIP system.

The problem here is, US defense industry won’t accept such a “cheap” solution buying of the self military products.

(BIG ERROR : PUMA can carry 9 dismounts! Just the German PUMA carries 6 because that is the size of a German Army fire team. A rack occupies the space of 2 dismounts and a squad leader could be located side by side to commander and gunner.)
