After the convention, we’re going to put up the same table for Obama vs the Republican Nominee...whoever it is, right?

Uh oh...romney is worse than obama!
(But I already knew that.)
He will be the end of conservatism. How can a conservative in honor reject obama’s abortion record but accept romney’s?
How can he reject obama’s support for the gay agenda and accept romney’s?
How can he reject obama’s support for higher taxes and accept romney’s huge increases as governor?
A conservative voting for romney is a hypocrite.

I think you make Newt look a little better than he actually is. I will NEVER forget him sitting on that stupid couch with Nan McBotox and telling me about his fears of GoreBull Warming. He's just much more politically saavy than Willard.
Don't get me wrong, if he is listed on my ballot in November, I will vote for him in a heartbeat.
If he's not, and no one beyond Willard and the EvilOne are listed - are you going to hold your nose and vote? Skip over the top of the ballot and vote conservatives down ballot? I think a lot of people who are considering not voting for Willard underestimate the incredible destruction that the Obama will wreak during a 2nd term. I honestly believe that we're done if that happens.
But maybe some people are ready for the reset button and itching to put their bugout plan to work?

Until Saturday, I didn’t like any of the candidates. I watched Newt’s NRA speech and changed my mind. I will vote for Newt, unless Palin gets the nomination in the convention.

If Newt does not succeed at the convention, who will FReepers be voting for on the Presidential line? Would having a Free Republic endorsed third-party candidate help to send a message?

Rick Santorum is suspended, not dead. He will still appear on some ballots, and until he releases his delegates, they are still committed to him.

(EXCERPT)
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Newts experiences as the son of a career soldier convinced him at an early age to dedicate his life to his country and to the protection of freedom. Realizing the importance of understanding the past in order to protect the future, he immersed himself in the study of history, receiving his Bachelors degree from Emory University and Masters and Doctorate in Modern European History from Tulane University. Before his election to Congress in 1978, Newt taught History and Environmental Studies at West Georgia College for eight years. He represented Georgia in Congress for twenty years, including four years as Speaker of the House.
Newt served on the Defense Policy Board under President George W. Bush, which provided strategic counsel to the Pentagon and Secretary of Defense on how to better address threats facing the United States. He is also the longest-serving teacher of the Joint War Fighting course for Major Generals at Air University and taught officers from all five services as an honorary Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor at the National Defense University. In 1999, Gingrich was appointed to the United States Commission on National Security/21st Century, the Hart/Rudman Commission to examine our national security challenges as far out as 2025. The Commissions report is the most profound rethinking of defense strategy since 1947.
