Perversions of certain Afro-Carribean religions are being used in murderous ways by Mexican and border gangs to terrorize their enemies and control their troops. Regarding Islam, unfortunately the chief Islamic sect of Saudi Arabia is Wahabism which comes from the most backward and primative desert tribe there. This version of Islam is being spread far and wide by Saudi money funding Madrasas (Koranic schools). Other more rational interpretations are being systematically suppressed or threatened.

There are perversions of every religion. Torturing people to confess imaginary sins against the church. The insisting of superstition over science. Burning innocent people alive because they are in league with “Satan”.
And later hanging them and and drowning them and compressing them to death with heavy stones because some loon said they were witches of all things. All done in the name of “God” by good Christians.
Ignorance and religion have walked hand in hand down through the ages. And despite all that I still consider modern Christianity to be a fine way to live and a good influence on society...mostly.
