“This whole thread has been one big personal attack, on anyone who does not bow down to Rick Santorum. Period.”
I have not personally attacked anyone. Not on this thread, not in any of my FR conversations.
I don't want anyone to “bow down” to Santorum. I can understand if people think someone else is a better candidate or if they think Santorum is not articulate enough to be an effective candidate. But I just wish people wouldn't spread the false narrative pushed by the media, Democrats and Romney campaign. Santorum is not dumb, he is not a religious extremist, he does not want to hurt women and most of the “gaffes” attributed to him are lies and distortions by the media.
To: DustyMoment
This election has become a complete disaster already. Neither Romney or Santorum can deliver us from this predicament.
We need to rebuild a party from the ground up, with an new name to suit. It will take at least 4 years for it to become viable, although inroads are available at the midterm level.
It's obvious that the GOP is dead. They no longer represent us as they have been doing since Newt resigned his speaker position, which he did for that reason alone.
Time will tell, but either way, we are due and in need for a whole new direction. This current one has gone off the rail, over a cliff and into the ocean of failed political affiliations.

Again, I did not insinuate that you were attacking anyone. I merely made an overall observation which you read wrong.
Your defense of Santorum is admirable, but the same thing was not offered on behalf of Newt Gingrich by most here. In fact, Newt was degraded most, by those who now proclaim that we need to leave Santorum alone and blindly follow him out of our “duty” to stop Romney. Or else, be forever labeled as a Romney operative.
And you will never convince me that Santorum could even come close to winning the General Election. That simply cannot and will not happen. Santorum is too inept and inexperienced to handle it. The old master Statesman, Newt Gingrich plainly points that fact out about Santorum.

I also feel Newt is more articulate than Santorum. I would support him if he were the candidate. I just want to see Obama defeated.
To: Happy Rain
LOL. Honey, you’re certifiably nuts.
To: Happy Rain
Dude seriously who is forcing a gun to your head.
I choose Newt I don't accept your premise that its down to a two man race.
But I will say this If your boy Santorum keeps opening his flapper and swallowing his foot, Then I agree he will hand the 1144 delegates to Mittens.
In one week.
1. Unemployment does not matter.
2. We need to stay with what we got(Obama) if EtchaSketch is the Nominee(Mittens)
3. pronouncing Zimmerman guilty without knowing the facts.
He is really gonna make Biden look smart if he keeps this up.

How perfectly condescending...and so bold.
Looking down on your betters may make you think you are clever but then what is your opinion compared to the empirical objective data as to your now well established ignorance;)

I'm not "HAPPY" about Santorum's record as a Fiscal Conservative or Big Labor and Big Government and his explanation that he's from Pennsylvania on the Big Labor votes I find insufficient. I'm troubled that he has difficulty articulating many of his positions, an example is the following quote. I came to the House as a real deficit hawk, but I am no longer a deficit hawk. Ill tell you why. I had to spend the surpluses. Deficits make it easier to say no. Rick Santorum, 02/5/2003" I'm not for obama or Romney, but you know that. I'm also not for Santorum, but you know that. I'm FOR Newt Gingrich, but you know that. I posted the following comment the other day to someone urging us to get on the Romney bandwagon, if not we're helping elect obama. The following was my reply, I stand by it and Newt. "Now is not the time to give up on a Conservative candidate that I believe will beat obama if elected and actually has the ability to fix what the socialist and rinos have done to America and jump on board with a candidate who I believe lacks Conservative principles and core beliefs and will continue big government, just not under the banner of the democrats, IF hes able to get elected and I dont believe Romney can or will get elected. Im finding that Im more Conservative than Republican but I do not believe in third parties. I know when Romney loses the blame will be placed on Conservatives despite the fact that Romney and Paul posoined the well with the negativity, lies and distortions and that the GOP-E pushed a candidate who had no political accomplishments and has done nothing to stop or slow up the democrat and socialist agenda, much less do anything to advance the Conservative agenda. I was very satisfied with a campaign based on positive issues and I only said good things about my guy and didnt attack or denigrate any of the other candidates. We all know that while the campaign was about records and accomplishments, visions and plans, and reserving the attacks for obama and the democrats, that Newt Gingrich was beginning to run away with the nomination. These tactics wont work against obama, neither will supressing the vote. I really thought that this year,2012, I would be able to cast a vote for a candidate I believed in, who I shared a common philosphy with and that when elected would start remaking America and fixing these problems that plague us and return America to where I can have a reasonable hope for the future and security of my grandchildren. Not just vote for some liberal rino that will manage the decay of America.

OK,ok, I have already heard the Mitt Romney anti-Santorum talking points—but if you had to choose between Mitt and Rick who would you go for?
Cuz Newt just ain't.

Like I said, I don’t have to make that decision at this time, as long as Newt’s in, I stand with him. There will be plenty of time for me to make an unsavory choice if I have to.

Nobody asked him that question. It was in his own prepared remarks. It was completely unforced, unasked-for opinion. If you want to be the nominee, job one is don’t volunteer easily used and confused rhetoric that has no upside for voters. Not being an idiot helps too.

We need to rebuild a party from the ground up, with an new name to suit. The beginnings were established a couple of years ago with the Tea Party. This is a grassroots political group consisting of conservative Americans.
I agree that the GOP has strayed so far afield that they no longer represent the bulk of "republicans" (conservatives) any longer. That's why I identify myself as a Tea Partier. The left can make as much fun of us as they like, it doesn't change their fear of the fact that there are MANY more of us than there are them!
THAT'S what keeps them awake at night!!

I agree, the Tea Party has been championed as a Conservative movement, but was also originally considered a collection of every political persuasion, Democrat, Republican, moderate and independent.
It was a party of Americans, who agree to drop their party label, and come together as Americans, who want less government, lower taxes and a secure border. Of course this IS the Conservative ideology from the start, but that aspect has been set aside and shared equally with all Americans willing to join in a common cause to fight Obama’s Socialism.
This is why I believe Newt and Sarah Palin are perfect as leaders for this new concept in American unity.
