I know that's a joke, but speaking as an Italian, it's not fair to say La Cosa Nostra, the Black Hand, or any of the earlier manifestations of the Mafia practice any religion other than greed and violence.

Even though I am a Protestant and have serious problems with the Roman Catholic Church, it is not fair to say that most people in the Mafia are practicing Catholics, any more than most people in Hispanic street gangs are practicing Catholics. Yes, they're often cultural Catholics, and yes, a fair number of their wives are practicing Catholics, but Joe Biden and Teddy Kennedy have more connection with the Church than most Mafiosi.

I'm not meaning to jump all over you, just speaking up because as an Italian Freeper who is not Catholic, I may be in a unique position to speak up for the Church in this matter.

What president in his right mind would do something like this in an election year?

Yes indeed

What President would?

I think in the end the question is: Has the government crossed that sacred line in the sand and violated something we all hold so dear we will not back away from?

And if so

What do you want to do?

See, at least Ken Starr made a trial. But the people said “no more trials”, we want executive orders instead.

IT’s kind of cool to avoid making trials in congress of the catholics and instead just behead them.

THis country has gone automatic communist stupid.

Catholics have virgin nunns. THis is a nono for homosexual muslim perverts. ALl women should be whores according to them.

CAtholicism will be made illegal. Abstinance will be made illegal. Women will have no choice but to either get some man’s protection (generaly a f@g promoting CPS homosexual agent), or work on the sidewalk, or, if not drafted and going to school, be relegated to FLuke’s government paid condoms.

As a Catholic, who has Italian-heritage extended family I was trying to make a subtle point.

That is that as much as this administration seems to enjoy using mob/mafia/thug tactic there are those that are better at it than this crowd.

And the original mafia, as murderous and criminal as they were, honored the Church and kept their ‘business’ out of it. It was line rarely crossed.

This group from the Washington/Ayers political line and trained in Rev. Wrights Church and Bill Ayers home seem to want to a pick a fight where they probably should not. They obviously do not understand that they may be crossing a line never crossed before with such an overtly direct attack on the Church.

"That’s just the most recent story. In 2010, investigators seized $30 million from the Vatican Bank and the Pope issued new laws regarding money laundering. A European banking council is going to issue a ruling this summer on whether the steps have been enough, and the latest arrests don’t bode well for their getting a passing grade."

Another Obamanista-like half-truth hiding the full truth. Surely a 5 second google search would have allowed anybody to find the truth available even on Wikipedia (below):

In a statement regarding the investigation, the Vatican said that it was "...perplexed and astonished by the initiatives of the Rome prosecutors, considering the data necessary is already available at the Bank of Italy."[24] According to the police, the presence of the investigation did not mean either of the officials involved had been charged with a crime, and a judicial ruling would be necessary to continue the investigation.[25]

On Thursday, December 30, 2010, the Catholic News Service homepage reported that Pope Benedict XVI had issued an Apostolic Letter that established the Financial Information Authority as an independent agency to oversee the monetary and commercial activities of all Vatican-related institutions, including the IOR. It will monitor all Vatican financial operations and make sure they meet international norms against money-laundering and the financing of terrorism.

On May 31, 2011, Rome's attorney general released the 23 million Euros in assets which had been seized in September, apparently in acknowledgment of the steps taken in the following months to conform the Institute to international standards.

wikipedia.com

Apparently Italy also has their share of Leftwing antireligion hypocrites in government - who will also search out the smallest technicality to attack their enemies - while holding themselves to absolutely no standard.

As for any upcoming "European {Union} banking council...ruling," you might as well cite an old Soviet Union Politburo ruling.

You're on the wrong website to get away with such reflexive anti-religion AND Obama apologist leftist crap?

OK... understood and appreciated.

I guess I'm a little sensitive to the Mafia/Catholic/Italian references. I've seen them used too freely by people who had an agenda to denigrate religion or to denigrate the Roman Catholic Church specifically. Of course, I knew before writing that Freepers could be assumed not to have that agenda and I wasn't trying to accuse you of that.

The late Cardinal O’Connor had no use for the Clintons, and I think he let it be known that they were not to attend his funeral. Nevertheless, when he died in 2000 (when Hillary was running for the Senate seat in NY), the Clintons showed up and took a front-row pew at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

It’s quite literally the Chicago Way. They keep coming at you and if you blink or act scared they’ll never stop until you’re done. If you fight back good and hard they run, like the bullies they are. Will Catholics support their beliefs or their politicians?

God needs to make that clear to the Pope. So far you can just say you are Catholic and it’s enough. Excommunications need to start rolling out. I know that many have already excommunicated themselves, but the Catholic Church needs to formalize it.
