We agree on the politics of Santorum, but it’s worth pointing out that he’s not the intolerant, social Rightwinger the media makes him out to be.
The problem is that Republicans have been afraid of speaking conservatively for so long, that someone speaking the truth sounds as if he is from another galaxy. The fact is without responsible citizens, our country is headed for collapse, and our only choice will be which charlatan will manage the freefall.
In all fairness when it comes to social issues, the Feds should but out..

No, it's quite clearly Santorum's passion. When it comes to speeches/discussions on the family, social values, etc, Rick truly speaks with enthusiasm and conviction. You can see that is when he becomes most animated. These issues are just most near and dear to his heart and it is very obvious. There is a reason Rick is not really known for much else. He's a social warrior. That's his thing and there is just no way to get around it.
This is why Santorum, good man that he is, would lose in a crushing landslide against Hussein in a general election. He can't be the nominee because he'd be easily baited into talking about these social issues over and over and over until the election became primarily about whether contraception is "not okay", or whether women should stay at home and have more babies, or whether porn should be further regulated, etc.
It's not that Rick is necessarily wrong on the social stuff (I agree with much/most that he says), it's that in his heart he WANTS to talk about it - and he's just not disciplined enough to stay focused on the economic issues that Obama would very much love to avoid discussing.
I’m for Rick Santorum, but why isn’t he talking about Obama’s record? The massive spending, the overwhelming deficits, the dislike for American soldiers, the locking up of our natural resources, the appointment of radicals to important positions, and refusal to engage in meaningful entitlement reform, these are the real issues. If Santorum is the nominee and won’t talk about these things, Obama will be reelected. These social issues are relevent, but have virtually nothing with the business of being President.
A President needs to be focused on an Energy Plan. We are about to experience Sky Rocketing prices on everything we buy due to the Obama/Chu 999 Plan of $ 10.00 per gal. gasoline.
Newt is the only candidate seriously addressing this issue. If voters continue to ignore a Plan that would bring energy independence and millions of jobs, they had better be prepared to look in the mirror every morning and admit their own responsibility for the collapse of our economy.
