The ideal would be to split california up.
The problem is the constitution prohibits states being made by dividing states.
Is there an INTERNAL movement to split california? ie east and west?
They are all Detroit’ers now.
They can be split, but only with the consent of the state and Congress.
ok, but are there any in california that want to split the state?
I find it hard to believe there are not two egomaniacs who want to be the first governors of East California and/or North California.
At that point we could also break up the 9th Circuit court.
I see no reason to insult Greece (or any nation state etc) by calling it “California.”
It’s okay: Californians LOVE high taxes.
It’s time to build a fence between California and America.
You represent that remark?
Or you resent that remark.
Not that I care; from where I sit in my little piece of “fly over country” I can assure you we don’t need anything from MA, least of all your presidential candidates or your commie health care plan.
The die was cast for a Democratic supermajority in the Senate when the state’s new independent redistricting commission redrew its 40 districts.
What happened to the challenges by “groups” to this redistricting???
Ohhh, snap...I forgot...VRA only empowers liberal/progressive groups to challenge voting trends in a state by Federal DOJ enablers...
And, this is California...Not Texas...Muh bad...I bet California gets off a primary this election cycle...I wish Texas had gotten its act together...Its all still up in the air...
Ohhhh, snap...They really don’t have to for this one...
I have to ask...Does anyone in California even raise an eyebrow anymore when the state government actually spends more money than you have in the coffers???
I mean, I was stationed out there in the 80’s and remember when the State lottery had its first weekly game...And I remember hearing years later that in the first two years of operation that the lottery, which was to specifically back up state education was going to be able to fully fund ALL state education activities, (i.e.: new schools, maintenance and expansion of existing facilities, teacher hiring, raises, pensions, the whole smack) for the next ten full years, and that no referendums or other spending or bond issuances would need to be put forth in that timeframe...
I’m only going from memory, and it may be flawed, but from what I recall, I was fairly impressed with the system...
But now, as good as it may have been, doesn’t seem like a lot of conservative fight is left in that state...
But that’s just what I see...And that bit about the lottery, well, I wasn’t one to dabble in the California thing, just like in the Texas lottery...I did buy one scratch off in Texas when it first came out, I lost and said thats it...I can say I played only once...Not sure if my participation would have bought a single kid a banana for lunch...
I guess I am a really bad person...
For a second I almost thought you meant California...Then I still kinda laughed when you said Canada...
Then I cried...
I don’t think there’s enough of us left to defend ourselves...
Truely sad times we live in these days...
I’ve read about a movement proposing a north/south split, but it will never go anywhere. I keep hoping the Mexicans will take it. In ten years, I don’t the remnant of the U.S. will be able to stop them. Then again, the U.S. may have an “off the shelf” plan to invade Mexico to manage the collapse and take the country back from the drug lords. Which would leave us with California back in the fold.
Lousy situation really.
Good points. I’ve noticed paying more taxes and getting less, too. In the midwest the roads were fixed, all the power cables are underground and the schools are first rate. I realize we’re comparing apples and oranges, the demographics being quite different.

represent
and i do care... big difference between represent and resent
We paid $14,000 in State income and property taxes this year alone, never mind the sales tax.
For some reason, my son is still fighting. He's young, he'll get over it. Although, when I think about it, he has always loved being a political troublemaker and there's not much more to lose in CA.
Right now he's fighting over proxy votes and who is really doing the voting. I've been suggesting, ever so gently, that it's time to move (as soon as my husband can find another job and we can sell our house, we're gone) but he's not done making folks in this state mad at him. :)
There’s plenty of crack pot politicians from practically every state; the problem is that with the abrogation of States Rights, crack pot Senators and some members of the House are becoming an ever larger problem for the nation as a whole. We really need to get back to a “Representative Republic” and reestablishment of States Rights. And that’s the case, if no other reason, than because this country is too geographically huge and diverse in climate and terrain, population make-up and resource distribution for a “one-size-fits-all” solution. Its like....55MPH speed limits just don’t fit the reality of Wyoming any more than mandates for snow plows fit Arizona.
