OK, so here is what actually happened just in case anyone is still looking at this page.
Obama arrived in Marine One at about 1:40 PM on the Northwest U fields. I was in a second story office room and had a direct view of him getting out, waving and walking to the limo. I was about 30 yards away. Few people get that close really to Marine One and a Presidential motorcade.
He spoke at Boeing in Everett at 11:30 AM, then flew to Kirkland. He is now extorting money from one of the one percenters in Bellevue.
This morning I got to campus at 8 AM and put two large Newt 2012 stickers on my rear car window. Then I parked on the street right where I knew the motorcade would pass by.
Turns out that at about 11:30 AM I got a call from our security. “Did you park on 53rd street?” “Yes.” “Well you need to move it because if not they will tow it.”
We had visiting parents and students on campus today, usually that means parking is tight and a major parking lot was closed, so parking on the street was justifiable.
Other cars on the street down two car lengths from mine were not moved (not on university property), but they knew who I was because of my employee parking sticker.
Didn’t want to pay for the tow, so moved it.
If I had been able to keep it parked where it was, I’m pretty sure that Obama would have seen the stickers.
Had to cancel my 12:40 class today because the students didn’t show and were so excited and unable to concentrate.
Turns out that there were seven choppers on the field on Wednesday practice and today five, with a sixth landing after the President left. Black Hawks. Two Army and two Air Force.
Kind of cool to see the military and secret service and snipers working. Wish it was a visit from president that I liked.
Funny because in my 9 AM class, four students had been assigned to debate the re-election of Obama. This was decided long before we knew Obama would land on our campus.
The students voted for the pro-Obama team. They had some really good arguments (Killed Osama, got us out of wars) and the anti-Obama kids were not as prepared.
I am thinking it might be rather difficult to unseat Obama. Few people are as informed as we are here at FR.
“Were not linked to WA state (WSU?)”
Hi Nu grad. Look for my freeper mail to you.
I was responding to the post asking if I let Washington State Freepers know about this.
When I posted it I included the Washington state ping list.
That is what I meant.
No one will be looking at this page since it is old news now.
“Should presidents be allowed to use their official capacities and all that goes with it (planes, choppers, security, etc.) to do fund raising? “
Would have been far cheaper to fly all the donors to DC and put them up in top hotels.
“Thanks...too bad they are being tainted today.”
Not really tainted. We have a strong faith culture here.
We are sponsored by the AG denomination but about 60 percent of our students come from other faith traditions. Catholics, Baptists anyone who is born again and believes in basic biblical doctrines.
Unlike most Christian Universities, however, students must sign a faith statement affirming basic traditional doctrines of Christianity and be recommended by two pastors.
They must also pledge to a community life statement that says that till live moral lives with out drugs or alcohol.
“He couldnt be doing much other work.”
When, pray tell, has he ever done any work?
A student asked me “why do you dislike Obama so much?” and so I spent a Saturday making this web page in honor of the Obama visit:
OBAMA CLARIFER web blog http://obamaclarifier.blogspot.com/
For anyone else reading these posts, I wonder if the Secret Service was spying on us at Northwest that day since his poster enters the conversation. I stupidly sent him a Freepermail and got no response. I wanted to know when he graduated, but no response. NU "Grad" isn't really a grad at all. He is a secret agent.
Must be Secret Service since a Troll would have said something mean or disruptive. Interesting.
Wow. You reply now? Months later?
I caused a stir here on FR because I thought that you were a secret service agent trying to see who I was.
Then you didn’t reply to any other posts or to my FR mail. Seemed specious.
I knew that the SS was monitoring all social media about the visit and your comments seemed like someone not familiar with the school (the way you discussed the denomination and chapel speakers — didn’t sound like what one of our students would say.
The thread was frozen because we all thought you were a secret service agent. Ha.
