Here’s a little more info about his political views.

That entire album seemed to be Dave’s coming out as a conservative. I can remember ‘The System has Failed’ album where he had a track called ‘I know Jack’. It was the famous line from Bentsen slamming Quayle, but I always felt like he was sampling it to slam John F Kerry, considering it was 2004— I’m sure he was.
Go listen to Symphony of Destruction. Sounds like Ghettobama to a tee.
I see you drew the Occupy Santorum Threads crew.
GOOD JOB!
I have. Mustaine converted to Christianity somewhere around 2000. I’ve also listened to Rust In Peace (1990) and he’s talking about Global Warming garbage.
:-)
“I saw megadeth last week in NYC.”
Last time I saw them was a year ago here in L.A. at the palladium for the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace. Sold out in 10 minutes.
Yep, Lars is a big lib, though. Of course being from Denmark, I ‘spose that’s par for the course.
As petulant, irrelevant, derelict drek.
Santorum is the "most conservative electable candidate". Time to do the right thing for the party and the country. 0 must not have a second term.
“and opposite the myth that Im supposed to worship satan and worship the govt, I became a right-wing conservative. “
...proving that your political judgement is much superior to your taste in music...
Whoop whoop, gen’men
I don’t think Santorum is very conservative or very electable. I agree with you that Obama must be beaten. I will vote for Santorum if he is the nominee. But I will probably cringe every time he is in public.
And if he wins, I will hunker down and watch George W Bush’s third term without the drawl and the boots begin to slowly usher in the next wave of big government Republicanism.
We have all types here at Deluxe, lots of peeps with long hair, tats, piercings, you name it. But, I did the same thing, cut my hair for the job. In retrospect I guess I didn’t have to.
To the article, this doesn't surprise me from Mustaine. His music has lambasted liberalism for a long time. Truth is, metal and hard rock have grown increasingly vocal in their pro-America, pro-Conservative ways. Guns and Roses really started the movement, I think, as Axl's midwestern upbringing really spoke to a Conservative view, esp. prevalent in UYI2.
Civil War
D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
Most metalheads I know are Conservative these days. The days of 80s excess left those still standing with a renewed understanding of the world in which we live. I think rockers are the embodiment of world ambassadors. They see every city, live every culture, and see the best and worst in people.
Well, I knew there was something about metal that I liked alongwith the music!
It seems to me that anyone whose creative career is based on the public’s expendible income should naturally be a conservative...they don’t get paid if the public has no money to spend...(And Lars Ulrich should get it especially after his fight with Kazaa on copywrite infringements...).
Actors can be libs because THEIR money is not on the line - they are just told what to do, say, feel and they do it...
The proof there is in their Oscar, Emmy, etc speeches...they are utter morons when they have to speak for themselves...
Or at the very least, adopt Michael Jordan's approach and stay out of politics, "Republicans buy shoes, too."
Exactly...I tell this to all the businesses in my town who endorse local candidates...Big Mistake!
You work at Deluxe on Vermont close by to Food 4 Less?
