In the late 60’s, in Minnesota, in high school, we had a guy that would slough off in just about everything and he couldn't wait to graduate.
He probably got C's or D's in math, however, there wasn't a math problem on the board that the teacher was going through that he wasn't able to correct said teacher if they made a mistake.
He went on to become a master plumber in California and extremely well for himself.

Penn is one of those celebrity lefties who
absolutely must - on a regular basis - be quoted in the press saying stupidiest $**t imaginable.
It's like he wakes up in the morning realizing he hasn't said anything dirt-stupid in a while, then waxes poetic

I am old enough to remember when the UK went and kicked Argentina’s @$$ in the Falklands. Spicoli needs to STFU ! Dumb@$$ hitler junior !

To further expand on your point, the anti-colonial movement was built a on rational of self determination. Handing the islands over to Chile would violate the inhabitants expressed wishes.
In the uncorrupted/original meaning of liberalism, Penn views are (ironically enough) extremely ill liberal.
Once again, the left demonstrates by it's actions that it is little more than pompous reactionary anti-Westernsim.

Actually Spicoli DID say something smart: “So Jefferson said we left this England place because it was bogus, so if we don’t get some cool rules of our own, pronto, we’re just going to be bogus too.”

Wow! I didn’t know all that Wiki info—thanks!
My main thought was how absolutely stupid does anyone have to be to think that English colonialism is evil, but Spanish colonialism is sent by God Himself.
Now I understand that their was no colonialism at all.
