I agree. But I’ve yet to encounter one Sanctimonium supporter, who is openminded enough to consider any argument, polite or otherwise, against their candidate. They just leap, and say nasty stuff... If I ever find a reasonable, thoughtful, openminded Sanctimonium supporter, I will, of course, respond in kind... Believe me, I didn’t give up until I tried and tried... they are a real subset..

If you read through the posts on the thread, I agree totally that women should not be allowed in frontline combat positions, in any capacity.

It’s on Free Republic, this is where I read it. Try google, if you can’t find it here.

The reason I remember the quote is because he was criticized by a couple of Senators who stated his participation was rather insignificant.

He was caught lying about the extent of his involvement, trying to claim credit for something he hadn’t actually done.

I would take the time to collect and copy to you every nasty thing that has been said to me tonight on this thread by Sanctimonium supporters, but I don’t subscribe to the victim mentality.

Usually the one who makes a claim has the onus of backing it up with a link or some source. Those who care nothing about that old FReeper tradition just cop out. I did a search and this was all I found using "Santorum; I was the go-to guy" as the parameter. Several articles using the same quotes as this one...

Santorum: Gingrich not a good leader

U.S. presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Sunday he believes he'd make a better leader than current GOP front-runner Newt Gingrich.

Santorum praised Gingrich as a "great teacher," and for his ability to connect with voters, but said the former speaker of the U.S. House had difficulties once he reached a position of leadership in the past.

"Three years into his speakership there was a conservative revolution to try to get rid of him as speaker," Santorum said in an interview on CNN's "State of the Union." "You know, that doesn't happen very often where you have the speaker of the House in a time when Republicans are on the ascendancy and the person who led them in large respect to that would have that kind of rebellion within the ranks among conservatives. I think that should tell you something."

Alternatively, Santorum called himself a "go-to guy" when it came to getting things done during his time as U.S. senator from Pennsylvania.

"I was a leader. If you were a conservative around this country and you wanted something done in the United States Senate you came to Rick Santorum's office, because that's where it got done whether it was national security or moral cultural, or economic, or second amendment, we were the guy that was the go-to guy to get conservative things accomplished in the United States Senate," he said on the morning television show.

"And I just think that's a very distinct difference between a conservative revolution among House members about his leadership as opposed to conservatives coming to Rick Santorum and trying to get things done in the United States Senate," Santorum added.

Now, if you have a quote from a different source where he claimed to be the go-to guy in the "coup" against Gingrich I'd like to see it.

You wouldn’t use the childish “Sanctimonium” (and then expect to whine about being called names) if you didn’t subscribe to the culture of victimhood.

Wasn’t the woman taken by the Iraqi Army in the opening salvo of the war, captured, and then RAPED??

You know, I have a very pressing job, so I only get to do my Newt stuff if I’m on duty and it’s quite in the middle of the night... so I have a ton of projects on the back burner, that I get done little by little...

But the next one is about that ethics thing, which is extremely convoluted, but I am trying to put together a flyer, so people can understand it in a 1-page read..

That did him a lot a damage in Florida... that word disgrace must have been said a couple million times on the airwaves, or it seemed...

And after that, the other thing that people negatively respond to, his own (slimy) colleagues threw him out of office... that sounds really bad, that packs a wallop, and needs to be talked back to...

I have a 60-page file, I call Newt blurbs ultimate, that is being used in a lot of different places, and more and more... Mainly defending Newt... stuff to post on boards or print out, so if you need anything, I may have something on it..

You can give money: www.newt.org/donate
Work the national phone banks: www.newt.org/activism/pb

And talk to your friends, family and neighbors... Money, phones, community... it’s really that simple.

He’s going to pull this out - he is.

That must really cut into your time to do this...

I am compiling an every-growing compendium, "Mr. Rick, the Deep Thinker."

You are missing the bus-sized point. Graham led the coup against Gingrich, regardless of who he is now or was back then, he LED the coup against Gingrich, he said it was hatched in his office. And now, forget his politics, his policies, his whatever, he is saying I led that coup and I shouldn’t have... and looking back I understand how hard Newt’s job was... that is an admission, and if he led the coup back then, and is saying this now, that carries some weight. He sure isn’t thinking Newt will offer him VP.

A few weeks ago Santorum claimed he was “the go to guy” for the coup against Gingrich, back in the 90s. What a shocking thing for a ‘moral’ person to claim, boasting of his own deceit!

go-to-guy - accurate.

in the senate - accurate.

not a coup; so coup - inaccurate.

Sanctimonium has many times called himself the go-to-guy in the Senate, he’s almost made it a campaign theme - I am the stable one, the dependable one, why, I was the go-to-guy in the Senate, the one people came to when they needed to get things done. I am sure you have heard him. She said he was the go-to-guy in the coup. And that was incorrect, which is what I said:

“Actually, the term “go-to-guy” is accurate, and it was in the Senate, but not the coup.”

it's disgusting how those pretending to care about women have done their best to force women into work they don't want, by demeaning choices (like having a baby) that the feminists don't like.

Men are forced into work that they don't wan't - by demeaning choices like the father being the primary caregiver - all the time.

Jessica Lynch, she was a tiny little blonde thing... and I don’t think the military ever published that she was raped, and I don’t know if she said that in her book. My assumption would be that she was raped... she might not have wanted to say so...

It exists. I just didn’t save the source. Sometimes I do but mostly as I’m doing research just for myself, I usually don’t bother.

There is information here on FR about Santorum and the source article is here somewhere. Frankly, the more I discover about Santorum, the less I believe him suited to be President.

Sorry, but I can’t help you with a source.

I’m going to bed as it is late.

I have yet to see any proof at all that he said that. I have asked for it but gotten nothing. You like bearing false witness don't you?
