You know I love ya WBC, but that is total horse hockey. We ended up with Alito because the American public was up in arms over Bush’s first attempts at nominations which were an assault on his own people.

Alito was working in Philadelphia at the time. No way in hell any PA Senator would have voted against him, plus Specter had no problems with approving liberal judges.

Although I plan to vote for Santorum should I have the opportunity, he is completely full of shit on this and a few other things. But I am not such a fool as to not want the closest thing we can get to a conservative. He voted for Medicare D.

I searched for my essay on the subject from a couple years ago with the facts for two hours today and I’ll be damned if I could find it.

I vote for door number two.

The hurricane proof one could out live you and cost a pretty penny.

that was kinda my thinking - maybe a larger kitchen/dining/living room away from the beach - and a series of one bedroom cottages along the shore with a small kitchen, eating area and living area - and a bath - and a garage for a side by side atv

From the article:

Toomey’s candidacy, by his own estimation was one of the precursors to the Tea Party movement:

"may have inspired subsequent Tea Party efforts, Toomey suggested"

FR thread to your article:

How disastrous was Santorum’s endorsement of Specter? Can you say "Obamacare?"

Is that the worst you have on Santorum?

no such thing as a hurricane proof structure on Eleuthera - perhaps you wish to give it a go?

i bet i could come close

hurricanes don't spook me as much as a tornado

i survived camille - sustained winds of 200mph - not like the wimpy hurricanes we have had lately

many, many structures survived it too - structures not built to survive a hurricane

I agree. Just make sure you have a safe room or storm shelter. Nothing is going to be 100% storm proof. Are you even able to get insurance for that?

that was my thinking - the property spans the island - in the middle have a submerged (or partially) structure

the major problem is getting anything done - no one works 8 hours in a week down there - it would take a ton of grease in the right hands

you can get insurance but it might be cost prohibitive - i’m in the less civilized southern part of the island

A monolithic concrete dome would be about as hurricane proof as you could get.

yep - a half buried turtle

i’m thinking judicious use of overhangs might give it a fighting chance and not look too offensive

NOt to mentionthat the way and speed at which work is done down there, you could be long gone before a high tech structure is even close to being finished.
