It's a story that's been told before. Scrooge was pretty close to a prototypical Democrat - until he was "mugged" by Marley and his three associates.

(seemed to government programs rather than giving a dime of his own)
‘If they would rather die,’ said Scrooge, ‘they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”
(pretty much summarizes liberals’ views of those that should be aborted or the third world poor)
