When Mitt Romney said he doesn't care about the poor, he reviving the Scrooge stereotype. Real conservative Republicans care about the poor, and want to grow the economy, to create as many jobs as possible for poor Americans. Republicans are also the party of Christmas, and we honor the man whose birth 2012 years ago, made it possible for us to celebrate our most important holiday.

Scrooge is a bitter, rich, anti-Christianity, old buzzard. The closest equivalent now would be George Soros.

You do realize that Scrooge was the primary victim in that story? The ghosts didn't try to save Tiny Tim or Bob Cratchet. Those visitations were to save Scrooge.

The post-Christmas Scrooge was obviously a Republican. He gave charity out of his OWN pocket.

Thank you - I hate how history remembers him as the Jerk Scrooge, when the reality of it 'he kept Christmas better than anyone else' once reformed. We should all be half as lucky as to be Scrooge.
Also, the actual Ugly American was a good guy. And Uncle Tom was anything but a pushover. Thus ends my mis-remembered historical literary figures rant. For now.
To: Hootowl
I would agree with that. I was referring to the pre-Christmas Scrooge.

Scrooge was a bitter miser with his own money, then he repented and was generous with his own money.
Have to say, this guy is a right-winger.

Until he changed, he was a bitter, angry dastard. He was a Democrat. After he changed, he was a happy, sharing individual who cared for people. He become a Republican.

The “before” Scrooge was a selfish liberal, who rationalized refusing to help other people by pointing out that the government maintains poor houses. He also exploited his secretary in the worst way.
The “after” Scrooge realized that he could truly help people by doing it himself instead of relying on government to do it. He also came to the realization that a happy, comfortable employee is far more productive than a miserable employee. He was a conservative.

The money was very much secondary to that story and could have just as easily portrayed Scrooge as a poor man himself without changing the story all that much. After all, a poor man is just as much at risk of losing his soul as any rich man.

This is so simple... Scrooge was a misguided republican... much like our republicrat leadership today... as Cheech Marin once said, “ They are different... only the same”.
If scrooge were a rat... he would have been beyond redemption. Man this is too easy.

Scrooge was a Republican. The best evidence? He found redemption.
Jacob Marley, however, was a Democrat. He also was probably a big advocate of taxing the rich.

Amen! It is a story of redemption and salvation. None are so blind as those that refuse to see.

Listening to obama and his thugs, one would think we give nothing, that americans are starving in the streets. Whether we are rich, middle class or poor, we give plenty to our federal, state, county and local governments, through taxes we are generous people. There is not a shortage of programs to aid and assist, no one should be going without in America. Here is the real problem, we have entrusted our money to thieves who have had no respect for what we give. They have wasted our money on ridiculous programs for their own benefit to stay in power. They are the ones who could care less about the poor. Wanting more is one thing but to call the American people selfish to get what they want is despicable.

I’m a poor man who was once headed down the path of Scrooge.
I was successful as a factory foreman but I was sliding deeper and deeper into drugs and alcohol and it was because I was unhappy. I realized that I was unhappy because I couldn’t stand myself due to my behavior at work despite my success. I was a real prick to work for and I was driving my friends away.

Mad Magazine commentary on Scrooge was funny. Mad, a few issues ago made fun of ZERO. My boys love to read it, along with Model Railroader. Like father like sons... :)
